It's definitely not me, I don't remember exactly when I started posting
to rfc but it was fairly recent. I used to peek in once in awhile from
rfp but was dismayed by the foul language, disgraceful behavior, etc.
Then I learned how to kill file and started reading the good ones and
ignoring the idjits.

And I am not as old as dirt, but pretty close to it. I happen to know
with certainty that there are wimmin on this group that are older than
me. Fortunately I'm too much the gentleman to name any of them.

You may not be the oldest one here, George, but I'll bet you've had the
most repairs done.

Some people just say what they think. I'm not very good at that, but I
think I would be happier, and certainly more honest, if I tried harder
to do that.

People are going to get tired of me saying this (or are already tired of
it), but I view my killfile like I view my tv remote control. If I
don't want to watch a show, I turn it off. If I don't want to listen to
a commercial, I mute it. It's nothing personal. It does nothing to
anybody else. It's strictly for my convenience.

ObPetPeeve: People who leave the tv on when they aren't watching it. I
generally shut it off, if in my house. I was in the hospital for a
week, a couple of weeks ago. It was a triple room, and the guy next to
me left his tv on all the time. We're talking 24 hours a day. It was
only off once during the three days we shared the room. I suspect that
he had left and the nurse turned it off. He also smoked in the room.
He thought nobody would notice. The nurse reamed him pretty good for
that one, fortunately. After that, he smoked outside, right underneath
the "no smoking sign". He smoked with the security guards, so I guess
he didn't think he'd get busted.

Well, I think it bears repeating. Some people have really weird ideas
about killfiles, like "use implies hate" or "use implies cowardice". No,
really, for me it's time management - I only have time to spend on
signal/the program rather than noise/the commercials - and what you said
above.

One frequent and long-term poster has been in mine through all her various
SPAM KILLAH! morphs for years because she originally didn't have much to
say, but insisted on saying so early and often. I missed much of her
morphing from a garden-variety attention-seeking loudmouth dimbulb into a
attention-seeking loudmouth dimbulb heavily flavored with extra-sour
hate-filled bigot sauce, which was generally good for my blood pressure as
well as my time management .

Ugh. Sorry to hear about this. It's bad enough being poked and prodded
all day and all night without the boob tube blasting away. The only
visiting I've done recently has been in oncology wards, so no
problems with that because they have private rooms.

ObFood: Unfortunately my teacher is going back in this week for chemo
(lupus), so I've already promised her a roast shicken (Hi Barb!) so she
can ignore the hospital slop. Contemplating sides for this; she's from
the South, so I'm thinking a mess of greens cooked in chicken broth, and
some lightly-gingered carrots (I have a lot of carrots!).

Might bake something for the ward staff. They are awesome. I don't know
if the patient can eat it because they keep giving her some med or other
that causes her blood sugar to go completely nuts.

It only counts if he posted from an abacus that he built himself.

No hip or bunion surgery for me. Two back surgeries, one coronary
bypass, two angioplasties, and, most recently, three stents. That
doesn't include all the strokes, they were free. Getting old is hell but
a lot better than the alternative.

When I was a youngster I never dreamed I would get old but, to tell the
truth, I'm throughly enjoying it. You can saw what you think and people
just think you're a crochety old codger and then ignore you. My kids
think I'm terrible, my grands and great grands love the old guy, that
might be the candy I keep on hand.

The Northern Louisiana George agrees with the South Louisiana George. I
know a woman who says "Growing old ain't for sissies."

As I get older, I find that life gets better. I think the really hard
parts are behind me. Sure, I have worries and problems just like
everyone else, but somehow they don't seem as important as they used to.

The good part is that I think I am at that time of life where I have
enough experience to keep myself out of trouble... and enough sense of
adventure left so that I can still get into trouble if I want to.

My mom was a small-town postmaster back in the late 60's and so I amassed a
GREAT collection of "wanted" posters - Manson and his gang, Abbie Hoffman,
etc...I used them to decorate my dorm walls in college, they were fun to
look at when we got high. Wish I had 'em now...

Barb! You have cronies? Really? I thought you had that, you know,
*thing* taken care of at the U of M hospitals some time ago. Did they
grow back? I understand that a really bad infestation of cronies can
cause rampant ownership problems in certain locales and if you have
one, we really need to report you to the Cabal (TINC) for
de-crony-ing.

Is there a Crony Doctor in the house??

Boy, that brings back sad memories. I'd only been posting here (or
anywhere) a couple of years and reading the blow-by-blow of her final
hospitalization felt ghoulish on one level, but we were all really
rooting for her and that felt positive on another level.

Banh mi is what I was thinking, but I don't want to drive for two hours just
to pick up the right kind of bread. It'll be *close* to banh mi, though.

I had to use a couple teaspoons of grapeseed oil; the sausage didn't have
enough fat of its own to cook without sticking. (I knew this ahead of time
because as you mentioned below, I cooked a small patty to taste-test it and
adjust the levels of salt and pepper.)

Wow! Sounds like a great way to spend a day! (If Saturdays weren't part of
my work-week, I might try to get into one of their classes myself. I see
they're making blood sausage this weekend!)

Ok, it is driving me nuts I have to say it. It should say, Who's been
posting here longer than whom - not who. Thank you for your patience.

That's funny. I never imagined that this was a reference to Jill.

I have to agree. I attempted to say it earlier in the thread but it
did not go anywhere. The header always looks <glaringly> incorrect to
me and I resisted for about a week, but I am on your side totally!

Thanks.

That would be me. I've always had the motto.... I say what I mean, and I
mean what I say.

I have no problem with people who do the same.

It's just the snide, ass kissers, who look down their noses at people
thinking they are 'above' them that I have a problem with.

Everyone sits to shit, and everyone bleeds red...... meaning, we are all
the same. I wouldn't give a rats arse if the President of the US or the
Queen of England came to visit, they're just people, and they don't get
any 'special' treatment from me unless they're also a friend.

Yep, I feel exactly the same way.

It's always good to see (when I open Xnews) that say 273 messages are
there for downloading, but only 160 make it to my reader :-)

But in using the killfile, I like to let people know that they are going
in it.

Usually it leads to some infantile rantings, but then everyone can see the
mental instability and downright pathetic nature of most of them when they
continually answer every little post I make with their childish rants,
knowing full well that I can't see them!!

Sounds like he's a real asshole. Not one ounce of concern or care for
anyone elses comfort or 'space', just his own.

A great candidate for a baseball bat to the face.

I work in a Govt building, and the regulations state "No smoking within 4
meters of any Govt building or asset."

I've had up to half a dozen people standing right next to the entrance to
the building, sheltering from a storm. I kicked them all out into the
rain. If they're stupid enough to want to smoke when they know it's
****ing down rain, I don't care, they still go the 4m away.

You really shouldn't make false excuses.

Isn't that supposed to be againt your religion?

As an impartial observer, I have stated *exactly* what goes on in here
between you and a select little group.

If you want to deny it, go right ahead.

Rather than take the literal sense, try and act your age for a bit and
look at what I'm saying.

You *do* look down your nose at some posters, and one can feel and hear
the contempt in your postings at times. That's not very Christian like.

You *do* accept the mewlings of the sycophants in here, as if you were
Queen Bee and they were your loyal subjects.

At the end of the day, this is an unmoderated group, people come and go.
Just because you've been posting here almost daily for the last 16 or so
years doesn't mean jackshit....... apart from the fact that you probably
need to get a real life!!

It all comes down to one thing, which is *very* evident with you and your
little group of sychophants......... none of you like hearing the truth.

I realised afterwards that your "dressing" is actually what we call
'stuffing'.

'Dressing' over here is what we put on salads. Like Balsamic and EVOO
mixed together.

Or Ranch Dressing.

Not very Christian like, is it?

I also don't like hypocrites. People who go to church, and tell everyone
they go to church, and then act like an asshole when they are away fron
the church. Usually they're the sort of people who think they can do and
say as they please, because they'll go to church on Sunday (or whenever)
and 'confess their sins' and start all over again.

And that was *not* aimed specifically at you.

Although........ if the cap fits.

Well... I figure that if I am going to kill file someone, why make a big
announcement. What do they care if I read their posts or not? And for
sure, I don't think enough of them or their posts to clue them in.

But since you like telling people, I'll make an exception in your
case.......

Buh bye!

LoL You were tactful enough not to mention her name, but the description
leads me to believe that she was one of the first to go into mine.
