Default Roast beef dinner

We never make roast beef. No particular reason. But
we saw a roast at Costco, Prime grade. It is a large
piece of meat, a beef loin top sirloin. Froze half and
roasted half. I get nervous when I see sirloin, I'm not
a fan.

This came out tender and delicious, I made horseradish
dip and served with baked potato and English cucumber slabs.

That was a nice dinner, and lots of leftovers.

I'm not a big roast person myself and tend to buy them only once a
year for the Christmas feast, but have bought two 2lb prime rib roasts
since the beginning of the year to grill over charcoal and decided I
prefer them that way.

Roast beef is one of my favourites. It is not just that it is good. I
love leftover roast beef. I like to make lots of gravy and use that to
reheat the sliced meat for at least one meal of leftovers.

I'm crazy for roast beef on rye or some crusty bread with mayo
and tomato. Thing is I like it sliced thin, like you only get
from the deli. I am pretty sure I'll be fine with this roast
sliced as thin as the knife can get it.

It makes great leftovers, no doubt about it.

Oh, you can't beat a stale sandwich! And from Starbucks, those
are the best. Hope it holds you over through your meeting.

Rib roast is my favorite on the grill.

I did think that. I specifically looked at the tag to make
sure what it said. I thought ... loin and sirloin? I was
thinking someone would say that doesn't sound right.

If it hadn't already taken out the trash, I'd the a picture
of the label.

Exactly so. The whole thing came to some $39.

Yum! Roast beef was always a Sunday winter day dinner when I was a kid,
but I rarely make it myself. Its a real treat when I do.

I have an eyeround defrosting for tomorrow's dinner, one of my
favorites for roast beef sandwiches the next day... very easy to slice
paper thin the next day when cold, simply use a carbon steel chefs
knife... stainless steel knives can't be made sharp enough.

Roast beef was something we had once in a while, growing up.
Always nice and well done. Heh.

It was an almost weekly meal for us when I was kid..... with Yorkshire
pudding and gravy. It was usually a nice big roast, one that would
leave leaftovers that would be sliced and heated up with gravy, or
ground up for Shepherds Pie. Unfortunately, my parents liked their
beef well done and I never appreciated it much. I started liking beef
when I became more independent and learned about rare beef.
