Default Coffee with Liquor - What is good?

I went to a local bar during very cold weather and asked for a coffee.
The bartender said they have a coffee maker but no one ever drinks
coffee in a bar. I said they should have it during cold weather and add
liquor. A couple people in there said they would like to try that, so
the bartender made a pot of coffee. However she had no idea what
liquors go in coffee. I told her I have used peppermint schnapps, so
that is what I had. A few other people had the same, and that is a good
mix.
One guy wanted Jack Daniels. He said it was good. I dont like whisky,
so that was not for me.

I was also thinking Anisette and Bailys Irish Cream as possible ones to
try. Then there is that stuff called Fireball, it tastes like "red hot"
candy,(Cinnamon). Not sure if that would be good or not?

What other liquors go good in coffee?

I'm thinking that some whipping cream on top would add to it too.

I used to like Galliano with coffee but it's years since I had any booze
with coffee.

just looking at my liquor shelf-
Any bourbon, rye, or whiskey;

Coffee brandy- cocoa brandy- *any* nut liqueur- [as I think of it,
most any brandy or liqueur that you like- if you like coffee, too, I
can't think of any that would clash]

A shot of Sambucca on the side of a *very strong* cup. [Espresso is
customary]
>
>I'm thinking that some whipping cream on top would add to it too.

Traditional 'Irish Coffee' [probably from NY City?<g>]- is a tall
coffee, some Irish whiskey, a bit of whipped cream and some nutmeg.

All that said-- make mine a hot toddy for cold weather. [bourbon,
lemon, honey & hot water- stirred with a cinnamon stick]

BS that's the mark of a bad bartender.

Ick. Peppermint schnapps belongs in hot chocolate, not coffee.

Again. Hot chocolate, not coffee.

Haven't you ever heard of Irish coffee or Keoke coffee? If you don't
want to be a wide awake drunk, *good bars* even have brewed decaf.

Keoke Coffee

1/2 oz Kahluaź coffee liqueur
1/2 oz creme de cacao
1/2 oz brandy
4 oz coffee
1 1/2 oz whipped cream

Mix alcohols, add coffee, top with whipped cream, and serve.

Other coffee drinks you can search for are

Espresso Martini
Bailey's Cup of Coffee
An Irish Kiss
Monte Cristo
Mexican Coffee
Tia-Maria
Buttsex
Nickler
Kahlua Coffee
Irish Cream Liqueur
Flaming Sambuca
Chocolate Orgasm
African Hot Punch
Karsk
Hot Shot
Coffee Nudge
Frappe (Plain)
French Coffee
3rd World Mocha

Your bar tender needs to find another job, she's just wasting the
oxygen at your bar.

I used to like the commercial Tom & Jerry batter with half a teaspoon
of instant coffee mixed in "for body" (and a shot of bourbon of
course) back in my younger days when I drank things like that.

You hit my favorite right out of the chute with Baileys Irish Cream. I love it in hot black coffee like a piglet enjoys slop. I love any kind of whiskey too but it tastes funny in coffee. Baileys uses neutral grain spirits aka vodka for their likker ration..so maybe that what makes it taste best. When I buy at the Store I get St. Brendan's cuz it made with real Irish Whisky (Think cheap Scotch here) so it dont taste as good as Baileys but its way cheaper and has pictures of Monks on it which I always like to help out poor broke holy folks. Somebody try to make me drink coffee with Fireball in it would get me to puking..lol. The clone Irish Cream is real easy to make at home. Millions of recipes floating around out there in cyberspace. I like Scotch for the ho made stuff. Keeps us posted. Thanks.

That's my go-to drink on a cold afternoon, especially when I'm feeling
a bit under the weather. I use Maker's Mark.

My favorite is Bailey's Irish Cream in coffee (mmmmmm) but that stuff is
good period! Hubby prefers Cask & Cream...always puts some in his
morning coffee to get his heart started! <:}

I like Kahlua in coke, but not so much in coffee. I use to make my own,
and Bailey's too, which hubby liked better than the commercial, but wow!
it's got to be really high in calories, and not safe anymore, I don't
imagine, with raw eggs blended into it...haven't made it in many years.

Exactly! You caught my drift. I'd actually written Kentucky Coffee,
but thought you wouldn't understand what I was talking about - so I
changed it.

Why would you use such good whisky for something with lemon and honey in
it? Seems like a heck of a waste.

For me... it's dark room with a bit o honey and a little unsalted butter.

I knew a bar (near an open market) where they always had a big copper kettle
of water on the bar, bubbling away over a small burner. The market traders
would go in and order a hot rum to warm up.
I wouldimagine that rum would go well in hot coffee.

Thanks for the confirmation! Apart from the rare G&T, I never drink spirits
and buy them only as an ingredient for cooking.

Good idea. It'll just taste like added bitterness. Nice way to get rid of that
awful stuff.

I would rather have Tia Maria with my coffee than in it.
For that matter, I like some liquors in coffee but prefer not to add
liqueurs. A good liqueur IMO is wasted in coffee, like using soft
drinks as mix with premium liquors.

Like marc. I once told someone that I preferred brandy and cognacs that
have a bit of an edge to them, a VS or VSO, rather than VSOP which are
usually too smooth for me. He offered me a class of marc. As I sip and
savoured the marc I experienced many tastes and sensations, none of them
pleasant.

Hey Judy. Experimented around quite a bit and came up with this. It purty dang close..fairly easy to make aint a raw egg in sight. Sure you can add a tweak or two and make it pass inspection for hubby..lol.

Bigwheel's Grand Prize Winning Top Secret Irish Cream (Revised 1/2713)

2 14 oz cans evaporated milk (Pet is the best)
2 13 oz cans condensed sweetened milk (Eagle Brand or equiv)
2 Tablespoons instant Expresso coffee (or to taste)
4 Tablespoons Nestles Chocolate Syrup (Do not use Hershy's)
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
3 cups cheap Scotch Whiskey

Dissolve the instant coffee in a little hot water then pour every thing into a big bowl and whip it up with a stick blender. Store in a glass jug. Shake it up good before use and keep refrigerated. Should keep 2 months in the ice box. Use it for a coffee creamer. Great for a bad old hangover and waiting for it to be bloody mary time. PS..anybody who makes this only needs to send me five bucks. Thanks.

The raciest I ever got was "Sex on the Beach" but I didn't ask for it
by name. I told the bartender that I wanted something different and
he told me what the name was.
