Rachael Ray reminds me of that energetic, perky girl in high school
who relentessly organizes all the parties and pep rallies and believes she is in the bestest class surrounded by the bestest of friends, and then gets crushed in her senior year when she finally realizes everyone secretly hates her. |

We love real ethnice restaurants and they tend to be very inexpensive. We like "dives" at home too. Well, our town is not known to be rife with fancy restaurants so we frequent our own special haunts. They're long on food and we love the atmosphere but it's definitely mom n' pop. helen |

Thing is, I didn't actually think I'd go to any of the places she mentioned. I just liked to see where she went. It's apparent you can't take her recommendations seriously. nancy |

Ray's "reviews" of restaurants are completely useless, because she has the same reactions -- the rolling of the eyes, the utterance of "delish!," "wow!" or "yum-o!"; in short, the feigned orgasm -- to everything (I mean EVERYthing) she puts in her mouth. It's unbelievable in the sense that no one loves the taste of everything; and that she sometimes starts her little fake orgasm before she can possibly have really evaluated what she has just taken a nibble of. The uselessness of her restaurant appraisals is my most serious complaint about RR -- although there are plenty of others (e.g., her Pillsbury Doughboy giggle; her general cartoonishness; or the fact that she's obviously wired on something stronger than coffee on some of her more recent shows and TV appearances). |

And like high school, it seems that many of the posters' criticisms are made out of mean-spirited jealousy. I think she should drop the fake raspy voice. She can turn it on and off, and it's not cute or sexy. Then I'd like the Food Network to put on some more serious cooking programs. I don't need to watch people jumping around and yelling. I can watch professional wrestling on other channels. |

For myself, it's interesting to me when people notice the same things that I do. But I have never said anything nasty about her. I find her far more watchable in her $40 and travels show. I can't watch 30 minute or Inside Dish, she's incredibly grating to me in those. > I'm willing to consider that it's not jealousy that drives people > insane over RR, but then, what is the impulse? Sandra Lee at least is > funny ![]() A scream. Same deal, it's funny to me to see if other people notice the same things. I think Rachael invites comment in the way that Emeril used to in his heyday; complete overexposure, you couldn't get away from her at one point, if you wanted to watch FoodTV. Just a theory. Why do some people get all the attention, good or bad. It happens. nancy |

I have zero desire to be famous, have a show, never mind 2 or 3 or 5. And I hand it to her, she works hard to have those things, and I am not interested in working that hard any more. That leaves cute and rich. That's not uncommon. nancy |
