Perhaps if you stopped asking that people respond in whatever thread it
is you're angry about, you would stop seeing what he writes. Or simply
ignore the whole thread. The point of a killfile is that once you
plonk someone, you're essentially paying them no nevermind anymore.

There is story about Tanzan the zen master. One day he and a young
disciple were walking along a street after a heavy rainstorm. A young
woman was standing by a rushing stream in the street waiting to cross.
Tanzan offered to carry her on his back. He did, dropped her off on
the other side of the street and she thanked him and went on. He
continued his journey with his young disciple. A while later, the
young man said:

"Master, I don't understand. Our order forbids contact with women and
yet you carried that woman across the stream. How could you do that?"

Tanzan replied: "I left her back there. Why are you still carrying
her?"

There's something to be said for dropping things when it's time and not
dragging them on endlessly.

I read this roan? years ago. C'est amusant. Would that we all could be in
this (Zen) Zone! Good advice, but small comfort for a woman who is still
thinking about a situation. How about, simply, "And this, too, shall pass."
That doesn't give immediate comfort to anyone grieving. Sometimes one can't
trivialize, although I'm not saying you are.

Mmmm.... Lemmee think.
I think a standard "trailer trash" recipe is Rotel with Velveeta for
chip dip.

Take 2 cans of Rotell and 1/2 a brick of Velveeta cheese.
Cut the velveeta into chunks and dump the Rotell over it.
Nuke for a bit, stir, nuke more and stir until smooth.
Serve with corn chips and sliced jalapenos.

Quick and easy Tuna cassarole:

2 boxes Kraft (or generic) Shells and cheese made up according to the
recipe on the box. Toss in 2 cans of drained starkist tuna canned in
water, and 1 can of Campbell's cream of chicken soup. Top with shredded
cheddar cheese and bake at 350 until the cheese on top begins to bubble.

I could go on, but I don't want anyone to gag too much! <lol>

I don't cook that way anymore, really! I've switched over pretty much to
a diet of fresh steamed or stir fry'd veggies and grilled, poached or
roasted meats, and I play a lot with marinades and herbal flavorings,
but I still occasionally use short cuts like canned soups, jarred sauces
(with lots of additions) and especially Wishbone salad dressings!

The above is just "junk food" recipes from memory. ;-)

One I still will do once in a rare while is boxed mac and cheese, but I
mix in chopped hard boiled eggs and sliced grilled italian sausage. Low
carb pasta only!

Living a low carb lifestyle has totally changed my outlook on what
"food" is, and has drastically upgraded my cooking practices! It's also
lowered my serum lipid levels, and my weight.....

This could be a fun thread!
Anyone else have any recipes to add???

That is passé. Now you just have to get one box and 1 can. It is called

Canada is rumoured to have a love affair with Kraft boxed mac & cheese.
My kids were quite disappointed they had to eat at their friends'
houses to get it. The standard recipe is to make the mac & cheese
cooked either thick or thin as you like it. Then dump about a 1/2
bottle of ketchup over it and scoop the goop into your mouth.

Just think of modified junk food, made from pre-packaged and processed
stuff. <lol> It's ok to get creative. ;-)

Haven't had this for years, but it was good. If you like your food hot,
substitute a jar of Victoria salsa, the kind with the thermometer pegged
at "high".

Either mushroom soup or cream of mushroom soup. Don't forget the frozen
peas.

Didn't have any canned soup, so my wife made a white sauce. Didn't have
any milk, so she used a pint of half and half. Didn't have any shells
or macaroni, so she used rigatoni. It was very filling!

It's a canned chopped tomato and pepper product with mexican spicing. :-)

How about weiners usually not the all beef kind wrapped with plastic
yellow cheese slice then wrapped in one of those Pillsbury crescent
things? Oh and DH's mother did this thing that when her kids were small
they loved. It consisted of chopped hard boiled eggs mixed with sliced
weiners then mixed with a sauce & cheese, spooned heavily onto hotdog
buns, wrapped in foil & baked. Now DH's mother was a most excellent
cook and this recipe just was horrid. I still have the recipe. I tried
to surprise DH with making it a couple years back - bad mistake Kids
will eat really weird things then they grow up.

Hmmm... sounds tasty. I'll give it a try. My fav TT dip is a brick
of philly cheese melted into a can of Dennison's all-meat chili. Quick
to fix and always a crowd pleaser.

Other TT classics are Creamed Tuna on Toast (Campbells cream of
mushroom + can tuna + toast) and any salad makin's suspended in
gelatin (shredded cabbage or cottage cheese + lime Jello). Danged if
I ain't gettin' a cravin' for an old fashioned TT dinner. Pass the
Van Camps w/ Baco-Bits!

EW!!! <lol>

I might add some sliced sausage to that stuff and chopped hard boiled
eggs, but never ketchup!!!!!

Boxed mac and cheese is a standard food in the food bank boxes. Dad used
to do volunteer work for them and delivered boxes to those that could
not make it to the distribution lines.

Nearly all of the food was what we'd consider "junk food" except for the
rice and beans that were included in every box...

Well, since no one else is mentioning them...

ChiliMac.
That would be boxed mac-n-cheese and canned chili mixed together with
added cheddar.

Kilbosa (sp) in the crock pot with bbq then served over boxed mac-n-cheese.

Hot dogs cut up in mac-n-cheese.

This could easily be turned into a whaddayado with boxed mac-n-cheese?
thread.

Two of the 59 cent frozen pizzas with cut up hot dogs. Put the hot dogs
on one pizza then turn the other upside down on top. Cook 1.5 times the
normal time flipping halfway through. Cut into "sandwiches" when done.

Oops! :-)
But peas make it "Tuna A la king"?

<lol> That's the beauty of cassaroles.
Anything goes!

For us, it's a can of baby clams (juice and all) dumped into a 1 pt.
container of sour cream with a dash of onion and garlic powder.

It always "went" first at parties!

LOL!

Cheap SOS:

1 lb. cheap ground beef, 1 onion, and a dash of garlic powder.
Brown in a skillet, drain off the fat. Add 1 can of cream of mushroom
soup.

Serve over torn up bits of toast.

Oh gods! You would mention the jello horror thing! LOL!

Lime jellow and shredded carrots and grapes is a classic!

<gag> Maybe add Italian sausage...
I have limited tolerance for hot dogs!

I confess, I grew up in a mobile home.
One reason I bought my own house as soon as I graduated from college and
could qualify for a morgage. ;-)

I just _hate_ the petty little dictators that manage mobile home
parks!!! At least here in Texas, they help float a loan for acreage when
they sell double-wides.

Fry up some bologna -- it will curl up into a cup. Fill the bologna
cup with scrambled eggs and serve with buttered white toast. Ta-da!
It's a lovely brunch. I thought this was so elegant when I was little
because my cool older cousin would cook it for me.

Okay, I have to ask Pandora...do y'all have trailer trash in Italy
too???

Wow, and here all this time I thought this was strictly a US
phenomenon! (And another question: if y'all do have trailer trash
there, are they too always the main victims of the tornados?)

ObTrailerTrash Recipe: Pizza Crap. Brown 1-2 lbs of ground beef.
Cook 1-2 cups macaroni. Drain both, combine in casserole dish. Add
any combo of the following: mushrooms, onions, banana peppers, diced
tomatoes (basically anything you like on pizza). Pour in a jar of
spaghetti sauce. Mix well. Top with mozzerella (sp?) cheese. (Add
pepperoni if you want). Bake at 350 until cheese is melted.

I haven't had a combo like that in many years, but it might be the way
I live my life now... not that I'm being snooty. I think it' wouldn't
be a bad choice for most Americans taste. I certainly wouldn't turn
my nose up at it if it was served to me. Soft Velveeta is like the
stuff they put on standard nachos at a county fair and Rotel is pretty
good for canned salsa. By this point in time, everyone should be able
to tell the difference between fresh or authentic and "not" - so we
can make our choices from an informed point of view. If our choices
are what food snobs agree with or not is their problem, not ours.
