You have no idea of my knowledge of Australia. You can only base that
on a bit of chit chat in RFC, which is rarely about Australia.

I don't think he should be sued for saying that gays go to hell, but I

I'm not always very serious, that's true. Whether that deserves the
label 'troll' depends on how seriously you take yourself. Anyway, in
this discussion I haven't been trolling, not even according to your
definition.

You glossed over the fact that there's no freedom of speech in
Thailand. I'm hardly allowed to bring that up. Even though it's a very
basic and important fact in this discussion.

You don't know that. She might have said: "Don, what took you so
long?"

Oh God no. Trump would never had done that. Even her husband
would never do that.

The plain single hamburgers are about 2 ounces.
The double ones are twice that.

I have no problem with them occasionally at all. Ingredients be
damned. Taste buds need to be coddled once in a while.

Note: McDonalds sausage biscuits are very tasty. Haven't had one
in 6 months or more but I'm planning to swing by sometime soon
and buy a couple of those boys. Most likely, I'll save them for
an evening snack. Just microwave back to hot and tasty. Grape jam
is good on them too.

The patties do indeed look to be a little less than 2 oz each. OTOH, the numbers that I see floating around on the web is that a pre-cooked patty is 45.4 grams and after frying it's target weight is expected to be around 30 grams i.e., 1 oz.

A pre-cooked 1/4 pounder patty would be 113.4 grams i.e., 4.000067 oz. In the real world, 0.4 grams is pretty insignificant but for McDonald's, it means they can call their burgers "Quarter Pounders." That 0.000067 oz keeps everything nice and legit.

They can't bee too careful. If they say it is a quarter pound it had
better be a quarter pound because there will always be that one asshole
who will weigh it and complain if it isn't. A few years ago there was a
lawsuit against Subway because their foot long sandwiches were not a
foot long. It was so stupid because their breads are frozen and after
thawing they are stretched before baking. That means there was no real
difference in the amount of bread in the foot long, it was just a
matter of the exact length. Subway had to pay, though I suppose there is
a good chance that the publicity they got out of the case more than
compensated them for the cost of the settlement.

The employees were probably getting lazy and not stretching out that dough to the proper lawsuit-safe technical length. The lawsuit does seem like a frivolous one, given the often unstable nature of bread dough. Subway may have gotten more out of it than they had to pay out. That's fine too.

McDonald's has always stated the quarter pounder is 4 oz. pre-cooked
weight.

LOL, there was so much side talk on the name of a holiday, I missed his
recipe.

Don steamed me up some last night that were EXCELLENT. He used a tiny
bit of garlic powder and nothing else was needed. Very fresh these
were!

I wonder if they came from here?

I'm with ya. We are low meat eaters (seafood excepted). That much
meat turns me off totally.

Last time I was at McDs, it was a double cheeseburger. Pretty good
actually!

It's a cheap burger and that's a good thing. I don't even care for tomatoes in burgers but 2 slices in a McDouble elevates it. It adds 50 cents to the price so it's going to cost $3.00. Also, when you order a custom burger like that, they pretty much have to make it fresh.

I've been doing it for years and stopped using the exact recipe a long
time ago.

Use decent sized shrimp and they can be marinated in or out of the
shell. If feeding large numbers you can use unshelled shrimp so they
will have to work at them and eat less. This recipe makes enough
marinade for about a pound of shrimp... the bigger the better.

Marinade:
1 tsp salt
a/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
juice of 1/2 lemon or lime and use grated peel
twice as much olive oil as juice.6
chop several cloves of garlic.... lots of garlic is good.
maybe 1/4 cup ketchup
1 tsp Worstershire sauce
some chopped parsley
Hot sauce to taste.... I like to use Trinidian hot sauce.

Marinate shrimp for an hour or two, but not enough that the acid will
cook them.

You can stick them on a skewer or use some sort of grate. Cook them on
direct heat for about one minute per side until the are pink and tails
are curled, but not too tightly curled because that will be over cooked.

Are you kidding? A slice or two of tomato is mandatory for a hamburger,
along with onions, mustard and relish.

You keep the mustard and relish and I'll have mayo, please.

I'm not kidding. I'm not a big fan of hamburger sandwiches and have no notions about what's supposed to be in one of them. When I was a kid, the hamburgers that I ate had really thin, tasteless, patty and a mixture of mayo and mustard on the top and some ketchup mixed with pickle relish on the bottom. That was all. It wasn't good or anything but I did have the 25 cents it took to get one. I probably would have ditched the tomatoes, lettuce, and onions, if they had the audacity to try to sneak those in.

One of my favorite cheap burgers is the Teriyaki Jack from Jack in the Box. That has a thick slice of tomato on it. I like to slide that off on to the wrapper. The tomato with teriyaki sauce will slide all over the place making for a most unstable sandwich. Sometimes you can get one with a slice of Spam. That makes a sandwich as awkward as an elephant in the Ice Capades.

I ain't a pioneer of nothing. I see food differently than all y'alls. It's not a statement of my superior socioeconomic position in society. I see food as simply fuel for the body. If I was by myself, I'd just eat the cheapest, fastest, grub that I could find every day. Cooking for myself is just plain boring.

Yes, some people only eat to live. It seems boring to me, but each to
their own fun.

LOL. Said no true Asian EVER!

Curious that you assume cheap means not nutritional or delicious. If
anything, it's usually the other way around.

Oh man! What would you eat if you are ever alone again? Are there
any gardeners looking for work? Do they have McDonald's in
Scotland?
