What idiocy are you on about now?

Janet, he's being an idiot and assuming people bash one another with
carts here. They do not.

I don't think that anyone said that ankle bashing is a constant threat.
I mentioned an incident where a woman who was purposely blocking a choke
point in an aisle was purposely struck hard enough that she reacted in
pain, and a case were an old old lady repeatedly bumped me while in
line. It wasn't painful, it was annoying. Nobody is thrilled about being
struck with an object, whether it is accidental or intentional. I did
not flip out the first, second or third time.... but 4 times??? What
the hell are people thinking that they would keep bumping into someone
else? Is it possible that they are so spaced out that they don't realize
that are repeatedly bumping into someone?

We don't bash other people ankles here either. Is that relevant? Does everything in the world have to be cleared by you before it can happen? Perhaps that's the idiocy she's talking about.

Which part do you want to bet on first that I can't prove in under
10 minutes? It will cost you at least $500 each.

C'mon kook, put up your dukes, you crazy bitch.

I saw an ad in the newspaper this morning for a restaurant Easter
Buffet. $44 for all you can eat lobsters, snow crab, and leg of
lamb. Oh and children under 10 can come for half price. $22. lol

For a buffet setting, that's pretty damn expensive, imo. Not only
that, but...SNOW crabs? For that price they should be offering
King Crab legs, even if from South America. Snow crabs are a big
letdown.

Here's an old joke I just remembered too....

Couple goes to an all-you-can-eat for $19.99 restaurant.
After the first plates were finished, they asked for more.
Waitress said, "ok but it will cost you double."
Couple asked why, "It says all you can eat for $19.99."
Waitress responded, "Yes, what you had is all you can eat for
that price."

Once or twice a month the Casino in the downtown offers seniors an all
you can eat lobster/prime rib for $9.99. I hear it is very good,
have never been but keep intending to with some friends lol

If I am going to eat crab, I like Dungeness crabs, plenty of meat in
them and particularly the claws, rather like lobbies.

> I won't go to those places, ever!

I went through the casino in Niagara Falls. I am not a gambler and did
not stop at any of the tables or machines. I have never seen a more
depressed looking bunch of people. I know quite a few people who go. A
lot of them go with the idea that they are willing to blow a certain
amount of money and consider it a night of entertainment. They all tell
you how much they win, but they don't tell you about the losses.

I had a negative role model that reminds me why I should not gamble.
Crazy Joe was a gambler. He bet on the horses, on sporting events,
played poker etc. He considered himself to be a high roller. He used
to spend a lot of time in a bar where we used to hang out. One day he
came in to the bar with money in his pocket. He live in a hotel across
the street from the bar and he owed them rent that he had to pay that
day or he was going to be evicted. He had to pay $250 and he had the
money. One of his gambling buddies bought him a beer and bet him that
$250 that he would not pay his rent. Then he challenged him to a game of
shuffle board.

Joe kept losing. He tried all the gambling stunts, like double or
nothing, and just kept losing. He lost the $250. He go evicted. He owed
his buddy $250.

The odd lucky person gets a win but the persistent gamblers simply
gamble it back immediately. I went to Las Vegas with my elder
daughter (she had to go to a trade fair) and we each played $20 on the
slots. Mine was gone in minutes but she won $400 and it nicely paid
for all the shows we wanted to see

Some people are bad gamblers. I had friend who liked to gamble. We used
to play backgammon. I am not normally a gambler, but he was so bad at
gambling that it was easy to win money from him. Betting with
backgammon is easy enough. If you win you get one point. If you get all
your men off before the opponent gets in off it is a gammon, and worth
two points, and going out while he still has a man in your inner board
is a backgammon and is double that.... 4. Then there is the doubling
cube. When it is your turn to roll you can, before rolling, double the
value. The opponent can then accept the double and whatever the score at
the end of the game is doubled, or he can decline the double and concede
the game at the current value. The opponent must double you before you
can double him again. Simple enough.

We usually played for $1 a game. There were many times when he was way
ahead of me and heading for a gammon or maybe even a backgammon, and,
sure that he was going to win, would double me. I would decline the
double and concede the one point. I would lose $1 rather than playing
it out for a minimum of $2 and possibly $4. He was a sucker for a
double. If I was way ahead I could double him and gammon him. If he had
followed my strategy he would lost $1 instead of $4. There were many
times when he won more games than I did, but I would win more money.
While I was always pretty confident about my ability to win the game, I
would not try that doubling tactic with anyone else.

He was equally bad at lotteries. We once went to a party in a bar in
Niagara Falls NY and bought some Empire State Lottery tickets. I bought
one for a $ and won $10. I pocketed the money. I played all night and
every time he won he used the winnings to buy more tickets. Then when he
crapped out on those tickets he would buy some more. In his mind he wone
a couple hundred bucks. In reality, he spent $150 on tickets in addition
to the ones he won.

Another time I was on a coffee break with a co-worker who bought a $5
scratch ticket. He scratched it and won a free ticket. He scratched
that one a couple more tickets. He scratched them and won a couple more.
He ended up with 5 tickets in addition to the one he paid $5. He was
thrilled with the win. When the night of the big draw came along he had
his 5 tickets in hand. He didn't win anything, but he was still a
winner with those 5 extra tickets. That is how casinos and lotteries
make so much money.

The closest casino to me...Riverside, Iowa...is fairly new. Smoking is allowed on the
gaming floors, but not anywhere else. The air handlers should be top of the line and
powerful enough to handle anything. BUT! The minute you walk through the front door,
cigarette smoke is all you can smell.

The buffet is about 75 yards down a hall, around a large curve. It is beautifully decorated
by colored fountains, fancy logos, lights, etc., including a large circle in an intersection of
several hallways where you can stand in the very center and yell as loudly as you can,
and it is not heard anywhere else, including just outside the marked center.

In any event, by the time you get to your table in the area where the buffet is, you don't smell
the smoke anymore. Still, that initial whiff at the entrance to the whole thing is a real turnoff.

(The food is very good, and changed/refreshed promptly. The servers clear used plates and
utensils very quickly, replacing utensils as necessary, plus refilling glasses with whatever you
are drinking.)

I bought a scratch off ticket once and my prize was another scratch off
ticket, that one was for another free ticket. The third ticket was dud.
Oh well, I lost a dollar and of course I'd rather have won a dollar.

The few casino buffets I've eaten at were topnotch. Like you said, fresh
and replenished often with waitstaff promptly removing dirty dishes, and
a selection to choose from to please anyone.

I have lived all my life in a twenty-four hour a day gambling state. I
did gamble a little at blackjack and craps when young. I was done
gambling by thirty.
Why? I hate to lose twenty bucks more than I like winning a hundred. A
wise little birdie whispered in my ear, "cheap, cheap, cheap".

I looked just now when I was in the supermarket, $14.00 crawling,
$16.99 cooked. Season ends May 31st.

Leo, I gambled in Monaco (promptly quit when my $20 self-imposed limit was gone), and also
in one of those old mining towns in the hills of Colorado...same result). We went to the
Riverside Casino just to check out the food.

I always thought gambling was the equivalent of just throwing your money out the window.
