Default LIAR Robert Irvine canned by Food Network; "Dinner: Impossible" cheflied about Princess Diana wedding cake

Food Network Cans "Impossible" Chef
Posted Feb 29th 2008 1:55PM by TMZ Staff, NTVLand

"Dinner: Impossible" chef Robert Irvine has been fired from the Food
Network's kitchen!

After it was discovered that Robert lied about having designed
Princess Diana's wedding cake, Food Network honchos investigated the
situation and today released a statement saying they "have not renewed
Robert's contract for future seasons" and "will be looking for a
replacement host."

Robert apologized for his actions adding, "I was wrong to exaggerate
in statements related to my experiences regarding the Royal Family."

I kinda liked his show.. At least he's a real chef, unlike so many of
the others on food network.

Why? He never did any actual cooking himself. Most of the ideas for menus
were brainstormed among his helpers. He often used already prepared, store
bought foods to perpare his menu. All I saw was an egotistical showoff that
gave me the creeps. There is something seriousely wrong with that guy, he
reminds me of the Burger King that peeps in windows.

I liked both him and his show. It was one of the few gimmick-
competition shows on Food Network that was both fun and, in its own
somewhat limited way, informative. At the time of the show's
premiere, some posters on this forum praised Food Network for hiring
an honest-to-goodness chef for once (ironic, I know).

He's got nobody but himself to blame for his downfall, of course. The
network had no choice but to fire him if they were to maintain any
semblance of credibility and integrity. A shame, but an appropriate
end result for a career built largely on lies.

What puzzles me now is what HAS this guy done? Does he have any chef
credentials at all or is his entire resume a fabrication? Pretty
amazing that he was able to land a network gig without some
confirmation of his past work record.

Um

This *is* the channel that presents Sandra Lee as a cook.

Well...yeah, okay. I didn't consider her because I avoid her at all

I wish I was stupid like she is. . .her drive and ambition have made her
mega bucks. I really don't like her presentations or food, but I have to
respect her business sense. I mean. . .Kurtain Kraft? Remember that? I
believe that she is sincere in her belief that there are many folks out
there that do not have time for much and she is showing them how to achieve
a meal in less time. Currently the Food Network alone has at leat 3 shows
based on that premise. None of them appeal to me, but I would eat Sandra
Lee's food before I would eat anything from "Quick Fix Meals" with Robin
Miller. Not only does Robin Miller purchase prepared items, she pre-preps
all her own stuff, then pre-cooks it for the entire week and morphs
everything into something else. And. . .seasons hardly at all. She
advocates living on leftovers for your entire life.

I don't know when she married, but I do know that she was applying her own
brand of semi-home made to her own life while she was taking care of her
step siblings at a very early age. Her ideas spring from life experience
during this time. http://www.semihomemade.com/sandra-lee/biography.htm

It was a way of making a designer drapery with little more that some loops,
I think. She info mercialed that and finally got onto QVC in one of their
product search efforts. She had a whole line of decorating items and
magazines before she ever was approached for making the current tv show.
She made plenty big bucks from her interior designing stuff. And she worked
very had to be successful with it.

I hesitantly agree -- just because I find serious fault with RR's stuff.
And certainly, RR could never be accused of being budget friendly with her
huge steaks etc.

It's a good thing we all have different views so the world continues to go

Oh no, Sandra Lee's not lazy. Culinarily talentless, yes. But she's
taken the things she does know and finagled them into megabucks --
admirably crafty. And if the viewing public is willing to accept her
doggie paddle as water ballet, it's money in the bank for her.

It's a set of plastic forms over and through which one may weave their

I agree with this but will add that the remainder of SL's target
demographic are people who believe that what she and they are doing
really is cooking.

Hideous. Her show and her talents are straight out of the Ina Garten
mold, but with her own patronizing "You people need to be shown how to
do the simplest things" vibe.

At first sight he reminded me of the Monty Python animation in which the
98 pound weakling takes the Charles Atlas body building course -- the
"after" demonstration shows a pair of arms inflated 'til they explode!

I thought all that too until I saw her biography on FoodTV. She really
did come up from nothing, from a broken family and left basically
raising her younger siblings and working to put herself through college.
She did have influence from two grandmothers though. The room mates and
friends from that time that the show interviewed recall that money was
tight yet for them all yet apparently her dorm room or apartment during
those years was light years ahead of the others. She could sew and bake
as those were the skills she'd used to provide some resemblance of
"family life" for her siblings. Either she, or the friends interviewed,
said something about the use of package spices or mixtures as a way to
extend her limited budget when she couldn't afford or maintain a pantry
of ingredients. A lightbulb went off in my head that she was creative to
figure out how to do more with less. Now, having said that, I do think a
LOT of what she shows now is rediculous, perhaps she's exhausted the few
creative uses of package goods and yet the show demands more?
I dunno...after watching the bio my impression of her changed greatly.

> I don't know what Kurtan Kraft was. I can't recall ever hearing about it.

It was a homegrown device to make simple panels of fabric "fake" the
appearance of professionally made draperies, particularly those puffy
ones. Again, that biography I saw showed her as a college aged student
working her ass off to take this curtain appliance to state fairs to
sell it and finally using her hardgained savings fortune to buy time
slot on one of those shopping network channels where she struck gold.
There was no rich man "wallet" involved in her early fortune. It was all
her own hard work.
I don't know if a "wallet" since that time gave her more exposure, but
it was obviously her own hard work that kicked her off.

O.k., now you guys are getting my dander up. . .are you saying that a woman
can't be a success without a rich husband? (Most biographies make little
mention of a former spouse.) A mentor may get a woman a start, but in her
case, how does that force millions of people to purchase her lifestyle
do-dads and magazines? How does that force QVC into taking on a product
that has no possibilities for sale? She was a long-time contributor at QVC
after being selected during one of their new product searches. How does that
force the networks (ABC, NBC and CBS) into featuring her frequently on their
programs? SL was around for a long, long time before ever getting on Food
TV. From what I've heard, she was approached by Food TV, not the other way
around.

Ah, St. Petersburg! That's next door to Clearwater,
the worldwide Mecca for the Church of Scientology.

Anybody know if Irvine is a Scientologist? That would
explain so much.

No, we're saying "woman has lame ideas; woman marries filthy rich
sponsor; woman gets TV show; filthy rich sponsor dumps her for Martha
Stewart; woman writes bio ignoring filth rich husband and claiming to be
totally self made" doesn't ring true.

Unless you can come up with the date of her marriage, you can't prove that,
nor can I disprove it. Martha Stewart? Figures how? Neverheless, men and
women through the ages have taken advantage of a monied marriage to get
ahead. Why the ire?

We know the dates close enough. Marries Wallet, gets show.

The wallet dumped her to team up with Martha Stewart. Literally.

We don't care that she got the show -- the show is hysterical. It's
just annoying she's lying about HOW she got it, but in the end, that's
pretty funny too.

Where has she "lied" on how she ever got it or discussed the FoodTV show
in particular? I know how she got the QVC show-she bought it herself
with her own hard earned money!
I laugh about her "tricks" as much as the next guy, but I'll give her
respect for her own hard work and accomplishments too.

If you know the dates, then cite a reference for proof. Wallet would have
to have been around since before 1989 in order to make the difference you
are stating. Without that you are simply being irrational and looking very
envious.

You do realize she's an incompetent joke, and we're laughing at her,
don't you?

And I join in on the laughter for the most part...but what I am trying
to say is that after learning where she came from, how she worked her
self up (no help from a man in those early years) and found success on
her own with that curtain idea of hers (again, no man involved) my
admiration for her grew. It almost made sense her logic in using all
those packaged goods. She certainly doesn't need to continue to do so in
her own life (she can afford a well stocked pantry now!) but perhaps
she's just showing poor college students (as she was) how to put
together something other than fast food wrappers and survive?

They'd be better off eating the wrappers. Literally.

What really fried my grits was catching her as I was flipping through the
channels on the 700 Club (Pat Robertson's venue) telling all and sundry that
she was 'inspired to write her bio' just for the Christian audience and how
her shows are 'for Jesus'.........is there nothing this woman won't stop at.
I admit, she is enterprising, to get herself as far as she has with the
'talent' she has, but come on.....a show where she puts down more alcohol
than the Galloping Gourmet did in his sloshed days....and she says she's
'doing it for Jesus'..........please. I understand that she is whoring her
product (her shows, her book, her 'cookbooks', etc) but somewhere underneath
most whores have some sense of right and wrong, and this is just plain
wrong.

Yes. That was the point that laughing turned to loathing.

It is simply breathtaking to watch the glee and abandon with which
the liberal media and the Angry Left have been attempting to turn
our military victory in Iraq into a second Vietnam quagmire. Too bad
for them, it's failing.

what ****ing victory? in case you haven't noticed, the war in iraq
has lasted longer than world war two, and still no surrender.

Hi,

I wonder what they'll do when they find out that one of their editors,
Charles Holbrook, has a history as a drug dealer.

congratulate him on his rehabilitation?
Who cares, if he's not currently a drug dealer?
