Default Dinner Last Night

Meh, it looked good enough to post -->to me<--. Thank heaven for
Stouffers Mac 'n Cheese. The separated bones were roasted at 250 F for
four hours and slathered in Bullseye BBQ Sauce. The cuke, tomato and
red onion salad is self explanatory.
The remainder will be consumed tonight.

Looks good to me, what's not to like??

I stopped yesterday at my favorite Chinese buffet and brought home two
Styrofoam containers of food; enough for 3 or 4 meals.

Is that even legal? Over here they'll chop your arms off if you try to take home food from a Chinese buffet.

I didn't eat lunch there and bring home leftovers. I filled up two Styrofoam
containers, they weighed them, I paid for them, and then brought them home.
They charge by the pound.

Well thank god! We don't have Chinese buffets like that over here. There are some all you can eat places though. I like the concept.

I don't like it. All these people who already look green from
overeating and indigestion, crawling to the buffet to get yet more
food. It puts me off eating altogether.

That doesn't bother me, but a single plateful of food is more than
enough for me. I prefer my Chinese food cooked to order and served
fresh.

Yes, and I also prefer a normal amount of good food rather than 4
plates of industry meat and Roundup vegetables.

Same here just as long as it's served on a
large serving plate or in serving bowl. ;-D

Buffet food is fresh enough for me and leftovers the next day
taste equally good (to me).

Obviously your vision is limited to black and white with no
shades of gray.

You stopped eating meat as to "save the poor animals."
Yet you don't care at all about the animals that live in the sea.
You also don't care about the hungry wild dogs in your country.
Predators in all of the world go for the pregnant and young
weaker
babies. That's how nature works, pal.

Going by that, you probably advocate the extermination of all
preditors, not just Australian wild dogs. Don't forget that
humans are the biggest predators on earth. We even kill nice
animals for fur only.

"plates of industry meat and Roundup vegetables" is your take on
a buffet meal? Good grief, what the hell is wrong with you? You
should maybe step back and take a good look at yourself before
you judge others here about what they eat.

Obviously, it's your way or the highway.

I also like the concept of a Chinese buffet where you can buy all
you want to take home. I'm wondering (just curious) how much Joan
paid per pound.

I often order take-out Chinese. A larger variety of things in
smaller portions would be nice rather than a certain dinner or
two. I'm going to have to see if someone does that here too. I
like the idea.

There you go again....assuming black or white.
My favorite restaurants are buffets. Just because you can eat
until you puke doesn't mean that most people do. Yeah, some do. I
know a few plus I've even overeaten myself a few times. What is
your problem with how others eat?

That said, how do you know about buffets? If you've been to one,
according to you, you also pigged out until your were too sick to
walk.

Personally, I go to a buffet restaurant maybe once every 3 years
(on average). If the food is good and I overeat somewhat, one
single dinner every 1,000 days doesn't bother me at all. It
shouldn't concern you either. Each to their own, right?

Really? No Chinese buffets?? Look around next time you're at one and see
if they don't have Styrofoam containers stashed away. Do they have those
'post office' scales on the counter?

Hmmmmm, the turnover at the places here is quite good and always tables and
booth open. Maybe our Chinese buffets are larger than yours. But I do see
all sizes of people at these places and all nationalities, too.

All the Chinese buffets here also have grills. You can order anything you

I looked at my ticket and all it gave was the total, but I *think*
it's around $2.79 per pound.

They can be a pretty good deal for people who want to try a variety of
different foods. From my experience, the places withe highest numbers of
morbidly obese clientele are the very cheapest foods, mostly deep fried.
I went to one of those after a tournament a couple years ago. I have
never been back because I don't eat a lot of battered and deep fried
foods, but there were a lot of very large people, who were piling their
plates high with that high fat food.

In southern Ontario there is a chain of Chinese all you can eat buffets
called Mandarin. While they have the usual deep fried stuff like egg
rolls, spring rolls, chicken balls, wontons etc., they also have a wide
variety of healthier choices. Last summer we took some Australian
visitors to the one in Niagara Falls. They have been on a number of
tours of the US and Canada and had been crisscrossing the continent for
almost two months. They loved the Mandarin because they were so many
fresh vegetables and fruits. The tour food had apparently been really
lacking in that sort of stuff.

They are good places for families and large groups because they provide
a wide enough range of appetizers, main courses and desserts to please
just about everyone. Sure, there are some plus size people there, but
not like the cheap places with the garbage food.

That's a very black and white statement.

How else do you think a restaurant can afford "All you can eat"? By
feeding you cheap ingredients. It's not rocket science.

Do you come in a special vehicle with the passenger seat removed, so
you can store more industry meat and Roundup vegetables? And a big
backpack?

Do you know what kind of manure those cheap Chinese use for their

Here's my favorite local buffet restaurant. You call this cheap?
Needless to say, I don't go there very often but it's a great
place to sample so many different seafood dishes. You just need
to expand your limited vision of buffet restaurants. They are not
all cheap fried food places that only poor fat people go to and
eat until they are sick.

No, skinny people eat themselves sick there too. They eat triple what
they'd normally eat. It's free!

Buffets aren't that popular here. That's more of a mainland concept. I'd expect to see some in Waikiki but I try to avoid Waikiki. I've never seen a buffet where you pay by the pound to eat at home.

You can see people pigging out at regular restaurants, too. All You
Can Eat places don't have the concession on that. But I will admit
I've never seen anyone turning green from eating at the buffets nor
really being piggish either. Maybe I'm just not going at the right
time of day.

They don't all do it. But when it's all you can eat, the temptation to
overstuff yourself is obviously a lot bigger than when you have to pay
for everything.

The ten best buffet restaurants in Honolulu:

I guess they're empty most of the time

Maybe that's what they do where you live but don't paint everyone with your
own brush. I doubt that you have a lot of experience with restaurants,
buffets etc in the US.

Yeah, you're sort of like those people that killfile and then talk about the
killfiled person incessantly in their posts, you stay away from buffets but
continue to bad mouth them.

There are lots of buffets listed in Hawaii, especially Honolulu.
