I made a pot of red beans and rice with 1/2 lb. sliced andouille
sausage. I've got a pan of cornsticks in the oven. A nice combo on a stormy summer evening. ![]() Jill |

It finally ended by 9 so I could goto the bank to make a deposit. It was a large amount of cash and a 2-month-old check. First time ever, they asked me for an ID just to deposit to my own account. WTH was that all about, I wonder? I even asked why my ID to make a deposit. She (new person) said "to make sure you have the right account." I told her that I SURE wouldn't be depositing all that money to a wrong account. Anyway, I got it done but that was odd. |

Yes, quite the mess last night. I'm a bit ****ed off. Don and I (and daughter) spent a lot of time stacking wood over the last 2 weeks and the stack fell over when the ground soaked. That was about 32ft of wood stack. We didn't have it based right with bricks and with all the rain, they sunk in under the weight of the full racks. |

Red beans & rice is a Cajun/Creole spicy dish which includes a lot of seasonings. So does andouille sausage. There is nothing *blah* about it. I've had your dinner, Jill. Cajuns might like that but not me. Knowing what a low opinion of McD's that you have, I guess it upsets you that some might choose that "inferior" food over what you cooked. |

No biggie. I don't actually care if you like McD's, by the way. Lots of people do or they wouldn't still be in business. One thing I've noticed lately is advertising saying they now have fresh (never not frozen) burgers cooked to order. It took them a long time to figure that one out. Has the price gone up? Jill |

I don't actually care since I don't eat at McDonald's. I did wonder if there was a price increase because suddenly they're doing something surprising like cooking fresh to order. Heck, they did that even when they were using the frozen burgers. As a kid and as a teen, any time we went to McD's I ordered a plain hamburger or a plain cheeseburger. That meant it couldn't be something already wrapped and sitting under a heat lamp, pre-dressed with pickles and whatever) Order "plain" and they slapped a new (albeit frozen) pattie on the grill/griddle. A slice of cheese, a toasted bun. I learned a long time ago my pickiness about condiments and pre-dressed burgers gets me one that is cooked when I order it. What a novel concept! I do wonder if McD's is charging more for this not previously frozen version. Jill |

I always find it ironic at ethnic restaurants how difficult it is to get a dish with a lot of vegetables and a little meat. You just know that's how they eat at home, but it's next to impossible to get that in their restaurants. Cindy Hamilton |

It's very easy to get pizza with veggies and no meat, same for pasta dishes. Technically a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is all veggies... bread is wheat and last I checked wheat is a veggie. I find it easy to have all vegetable and no meat dishes at ethnic restaurants, but be prepared for a lot of rice, beans, potatoes, noodles, bread/tacos and such. |

Like a small salad bar that contained everything you might want to put on a hamburger. Fresh tomato slices, onion slices, lettuce, pickle slices. Then packs of mustard, ketchup, mayo, horseradish mayo, relish, etc. I feel like I've forgotten many things but that's the basics. You put what you want on your burger. Nice for turning a plain hamburger into a deluxe one. |
