A lot of people just lost jobs because of this. And a couple of
companies with extensive involvement in new PD products just lost a
wad of money. I can't believe that somewhere along the way there was
no one begging her to please keep her mouth shut.
I expect this will also put her son's Food Network shows in jeopardy.

I don't even know what you are talking about. My point was that in
the world of advertising and image, Paula has drawn too much of the
wrong kind of attention and no longer represents the image the FN
wants to present. Everyone must have noticed how squeaky clean
everyone of their people are. They are pretty clear about what they
want. She's carrying too much baggage now. It isn't just using the N
word. There's the plantation, nostalgic old South wedding she wanted,
the lawsuit, the furor over hiding her diabetes, the late show
parodies about her and her food habits. She's become a joke and as
such she has not fulfilled what FN expected of her.

The FN has not said one way or another why, just that they will not be
renewing their contract with her at the end of this month. I don't
think they are required to give a press release stating reasons.

She totally lost me at the diabetes thing. After that when I did watch her,
it was in scorn. I say this as a diabetic. I am happy now that her
casserole broke. No more traces of her in my house!

Marketing is a funny business. You have to wonder why so many people
will buy a product just because it is being flogged by a celebrity, and
wonder even more when the would be reluctant to buy those things after a
scandal like this comes out. It is not as if their attitude or their
treatment of one or two people in the organization had any impact on the
quality of the product.

The number of board meetings required is pretty low. Other than the one
or two mandatory meetings each year you only need to have a meeting if
there is something to discuss. There are lots of people in management
who live for meetings, though nothing ever seems to get done.
