Default QUESTION: Pepperoni Seasonings?

Ok, here's a real challenge.

I wish to create a pepperoni- taste in purely vegan dish but I have friends
who are allergic to soy and soy by-products. So, I can't use "meatless"
pepperoni sausage to add that seasoning to the meal I wish to prepare.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what seasonings I can use to create the
pepperoni taste one finds in meat or meatless pepperoni sausage?

My pet meat-eater concurs, with the addition of chilli. The coconut
fat is a very good idea, since like meat fat it's solid at room
temperature, so should give the right kind of mouth feel.
