In my old life in direct marketing, this is what we called a BGO or "blinding glimpse of the obvious". A BGO is rare, occurring when someone avoids the clutter and zeros in on the most elegant (and often parsimonious) solution to a challenge or objective. Haven't seen this piece of advice in any of the books...
