Maybe the headboard of the bed is not as tall as the one at the foot?
alternatively, someone from Tierra del Fuego?

And, if one sleeps in a four-poster and speaks no Spanish,
what then, Mr. Lurker?

? I don't understand that either :-)

Someone I know irl (called Brian) very occasionally posts to some food
groups. I haven't seen him for some time but he might well have peeped in
here :-)

Not me Mary, I'm the Brian from Eastbourne.

By example, they are all around us. Probably easier
to say what they are not. They are not persons who
pay attention to the precedents of good newsgroup
conduct.

Probably they simply are congenitally dull in most
instances -- a bottom segment of the so called
"normal" distribution.

One giveaway is that they requote much more than
they add, which frequently is a dumb one-line quip.
Another is diddling off into nontopciality.
Plenty more. Want a list?

Dicky

P.S. One other thing -- quite likely they are us.

I guess I am at least 50 % safe from matching Dick's description.

No offense intended to the UK folks, but when my wife rolls her eyes at
my humor she says my humor is dull, it is as dry as a bone, and I must
have picked it up from my English ancestry.

My co-workers will vehimately say that I am ANYTHING but part of the
"normal" distribution.

If you had learnt to spell properly (it's 'humour', BTW) we might accept that reasoning. The irony of English humour is that they
claim its creation whilst revelling in the likes of Benny Hill.

George Bernard Shaw commented, correctly, that "England and America are
two countries separated by a common language."

The language has diverged, and it is folly to seriously claim that
authority over the language rests on either side of the Atlantic ocean.

I *DO* hope your comments about the spelling of humor were in jest, and
not the ravings of yet another Brit who hasn't noticed that the world
has changed in the past several hundred years. (Not always for the
better, but it certainly has changed.)

Mike

There are no Americans like that of course.

Is 'vehimately' a correct American spelling then? If so I apologise.

And 'vehemently'!

Not all of us. I never saw anything to even smile at in Benny Hill, he was
not funny at all.

My father in law was a terrible prude but he'd never miss a BH broadcast.
Double standards or what!

Perhaps Sasha Baron Cohen as Ali G and the Staines Massif or the 'wrestling' scene in Borat are more to your liking? Big hits in
the UK.

Strictly Come Dancing on the Beeb. Now that's British for entertainment.

In a personal bit of Irony I spelled it the American way. The original
King James Version of the Bible with the King's English is one of two I
usually read and use to preach from (and grew up with as well).
Because of that, I really have to work to remove the "our" from a lot
of stuff in typing and writing including colour.

Now I'm at a place that it's appropriate to add the letters and I mess
up!!!!!

This entire thread reminds me of a joke:

Q: What's the difference between a lawyer and a catfish?
A: One is a scum sucking bottom dweller and the other is a fish....

Dick could insert "low-end poster" instead of "lawyer" into the joke.
Based on that, I haven't seen any true low-end posters on this list
except the guy who spammed in Arabic (I wish I hadn't pasted the Arabic
into the Google translator. What filth!.) and the other spammers.
