Has anybody dealt with http://www.homecanning.com/usa/ lately to order
the Blue Book? I just want to rant a bit as I ordered 8 of them online back on 11-13-06 from that site. The first problem was that the price listed at the closing of my online session was $45.85. Two days later I noticed the billing from Altrista on my credit card activity viewed online and the charge there was $47.60, an increase of $1.75. We wanted to add these to our Christmas gifts, but by 1-6-07, no books had arrived and I emailed them via the 'contact us' page since they only answer calls Mon thru Fri, 8 am to 4 pm. To date, there has been no email contact back to me. On 1-8-07, I called and got a gentleman named "Mike." Mike quickly assured me that, lo and behold, they had shipped on the previous Friday, 1/5/07. This past Friday, 1/19/07, 1 Ball Blue Book arrived in the mail. This morning, I called and talked to "Janette." After I gave her my name and zip as she requested, I asked if she could tell me the status of my account. She said she couldn't so I gave her the complete story with my order number. Again I asked if she could see the status of my account and she said "No" again. So I then asked if she could tell me who to contact to find out the status of my order/account and she said that she didn't know or couldn't tell me who to contact. "Mike" was out with a sick child, but she offered to check his desk to see what she could find. After a couple of minutes, she was back on line stating she had found nothing on his desk. She assured me that when she could find out if Mike shipped one or eight books, she would ship the balance up to 7 books. I again asked who I could talk to to air my dissatisfaction and she said there was no one to complain to. Today's mail just arrived and there were no other Blue Books, so I will be calling Janette back momentarily. I just wanted to offer this up in case anyone else was considering purchasing through these people or had problems with them in the past. I'll report back later. -- ><<XX>:> Buddy |

I've had no dealings with homecanning.com before, and since I don't know you from Adam I won't hold this against them. But I have had the same kind of nightmare with other companies before. Call your credit card company immediately and contest the charge. They will reverse the charge for you -- they call it a "chargeback" You might also call the Federal Trade Commission (just to cause some trouble) since they charged you card immediately and didn't process your order for almost 2 months. The other 7 weren't in this mornings mail, so I called them right back and got the same person I talked to today. She said she would check with the other fellow, Mike, and see if they need to send the other 7 or if they are in the mail. There has been no mention of refund, extra book or anything compensatory. I hope you have great luck and my case was an anomaly. -- ><<XX>:> Buddy |

Two more Ball Blue Books arrived in the mail today bringing the total to 3 books out of 8. Each are coming individually in envelopes with $4.05 postage on each. Hell of a way to run a business, but as long as I get what I ordered ... -- ><<XX>:> Buddy |
