Saw this in today's paper and it brought to mind a recent discussion.

City wants rules on ice cream truck tunes

A Napa City Council committee on Tuesday asked the city manager to set a
decibel limit for ice cream trucks. The committee also asked the city
to draft rules prohibiting music while trucks are stopped and limit how
frequently trucks pass though neighborhoods.

The decision came after critics at a city meeting said as many as four
trucks pass through their neighborhoods each day blasting music.

But some ice cream truck lovers called the critics little more than a
group of grumps.

"The people who complain must have no life. If they don't they should
go out an get one," resident Hap Jackson said.

Some of the trucks are just plain annoying though and there should be limits
to sound level and how long they play the hideous tunes when stopped. If
they were considerate from the start, there would be no laws, just like when
they rang a bell many years ago.
