Full dentures. What a nightmare, imo.

I've always wondered though...as teeth might need to be pulled one at a
time, at what point does someone decide to get them all pulled and go
for full dentures?

WTH? (other than a gum disease).

I'd rather deal with a few missing than to pull all the rest out and
install a full set of fake teeth. arrggh!

Humans have canine teeth too... I think most mammals have canine
teeth.

If you had the patience you could simply wait til your gourmet meal

The jalapeno kettle chips at ALDI are really good. They aren't very hot, but
nicely balanced. I like super hot potato chips too. I don't think of snack
chips as slumming. Even pork rinds aren't slumming. Fried bologna
sandwiches are slumming. TV dinners are slumming. The aforementioned
canned pasta is slumming.

Tell you what isn't slumming, the Italian salami from the famous salumeria
here in town, with the Italian bread from down the street from them.

I have never had much interest in junk food. I can't tell you the last
time we had potato chips in the house. I used to allow myself a bag or
Doritos once a year.

Ok, here it is: my husband likes Chicken Divan made with Campbell's
cream of chicken soup. Once in a great while I make and enjoy it. But
if it weren't for him, I'd never make it.

(Sure, blame the poor husband.)

Yes. Anything made with canned "cream of" soup is slumming. Now that
my son has moved out, no more boxed mac&cheese. Ick.

Leaving gaps is not wise as the adjacent teeth will shift. Nowadays
most people go for implants... a lot less maintenence and don't cost
much more than dentures. And very often dentures need to be replaced
as gums change and adjacent teeth shift. If you're thinking of
dentures it's best to think again... most dentists won't agree to
dentures when the other teeth are still good. Today implants is the
way to go. My wife got three implants as maintaining a bridge was a
major PIA, not to mention the cost of ongoing dentist visits.

Broke my heart when I could no longer find them at Costco and I
ordered them online direct,. We have used them in family taste tests
and got a kick out of fooling people. It is the only packaged potato
product I have ever found tasty and useful

Exactly. Last two years I tossed the sprouted potatoes into dirt and
harvested them a few months later. What a conundrum that presented -
back where I started with potatoes.....

INGREDIENTS: IDAHO® POTATOES, BUTTER AND SEA SALT. Can't beat that.
They have mastered the texture problem with such products, though, and
to me, that was key. I have always detested the gluey ick of packaged
potato products.

I forgot who the oatmeal and dry toast person was. I guess that was
you, eh :-)

A muffin is my second least favorite breakfast. And FWIW, I often
refer to my lunch as breakfast since I rarely eat "breakfast". Since
the spuds were at 6:AM, they were indeed breakfast.

Peruvian grilled chicken and green sauce for lunch/dinner. It's
gotta be grilled so I gotta look at the weather report to see when
I'll have it.

A friend who was a Costco member gave me a carton. I agree, they are damned
good and don't have that weird taste that so many brands of "mashed potato"
exhibit.
When I ran out, I tried Betty Crocker and found them acceptable.

I'm assuming you are talking about socialist health care like Canada or
some European countries. Trust me, you'll pay for it in the end with
higher taxes and/or lower quality health care.

I usually have one can of vienna sausages on hand. It's a cheap way to
chop up something with flavor into scrambled eggs or an omelet.

Agreed, the price is right on those chips as well. I've bought the
boxed mac n cheese for 33 cents/box at Aldi before just for the pasta in
it. I don't like boxed mac n cheese, but the one time I followed
package directions, I felt that it actually tasted better than the Kraft
brand.

Oh God, I'd never heat the things. Cold out of the can or nothing.

Socialist health care? What the hell is that? Affordable healthcare for
everybody isn't socialist health. It's common sense. What's wrong with
Americans?

Would you rather have "lower quality health care" or none at all?
Now that there's no mandate to buy health insurance, are
you going to do without?

The sort of national health program like they have in Canada is
pretty much just like commercial insurance, except the risk pool
is the entire country and it's not optional. The per-capita
cost is less than the U.S. pays: $5418 in Canada versus $10966
in the U.S. And Canadians are not exactly dying in the streets. The
life expectancy in Canada is 81.2 years, while it's 78 in the U.S.

Faceless bureaucrats decide who gets care whether they work
for the government or for an insurance company.

Millions of Americans are in favor of some sort of national health
insurance. Unfortunately, other millions of Americans are terribly afraid
that someone else is going to get something they didn't pay for.

It's all about the money, Dr. B.

Yes, it is. Penny-wise pound-foolish.

We are well aware that we pay for our health care system with our tax
dollars. Most people are very happy with our system.

There has been lot of misinformation in the US about the Canadian health
care system. They talk about how expensive it is, but as you pointed
out, we pay less than Americans. The government spends less per capita
on health care than the US government, and everyone is covered. We live
longer. Wait times? They have been grossly exaggerated. We can thank the
lobbyists for the for profit health care system for those lies.

*Exactly*, Michael, thank you...

BTW you'll have to excuse Graham, he is one of our resident Yank - haters...and he gets the squitters whenever he thinks of President Trump, lol...

However, despite this political "blind spot", Graham is quite an accomplished baker and a gourmand, so he is an okay bloke in my book...*and* I pray for his soul, that he will see the light of Our Lord Jesus Christ...

There are a lot of real assholes here in the USA, and right wing ideology
that mistakenly believes that pure capitalism triumphed over communism,
which is outright BS. A mixed, balanced economy, coupled with free speech
and such, is what brought down the Soviet Union, and most of the 1st World
was somewhat more socialistic than the USA. It shouldn't be about ideology,
but practicality.

Not all Americans, just the ignorant ones. And ignorance can sometimes
be cured, Stupidity can't though.
I have experience of both US and UK health systems, and greatly prefer
the UK system.
There are fine doctors and excellent medical facilities in both
countries, but access to those medical resources is handled very
differently.

It should be about a government working for the people to help the
people. There is no doubt that business and industry helps to create a
prosperous society that benefits all people, nut just the rich.

One of the selling points about our capitalist system is that it fosters
competition to increase efficiency and lowers prices. Then the big
businesses buy up the competitors.

There's a lot of misinformation and fear mongering going on in the US
and millions of Americans are buying it all.

If someone looks at European healthcare and then says "Socialism!", I
think they're both ignorant and stupid. Lots of people are. What did
Hillary Clinton call them again?

Sauce is, I guess, a misnomer. I made a slurry with cornstarch and chicken
