while it looks edible, as a personal preference i tend to
like the sauces with the meat so i'd want some red sauce or
white sauce or something else going on with the meat in the
middle.

True if you eat from the top down.
I'd eat a full top to bottom bite...contains it all.

Or...you could set the slice in a bowl and mix it up a bit
before eating. A bit of everything in one bite.

It all depends on what your definition of a Chicago style pizza is. Mine is a deep dish pizza with cheese on the bottom, the toppings go on top of the cheese, and the sauce goes on last. Some Chicago pizza will have a second crust that the sauce is placed on. Typically, if I order a Chicago style pizza on this rock, I'll get a deep dish pizza with the cheese on top and the sauce on the bottom. It ain't a real Chicago style pizza but that's okay because this ain't really Chicago. The Chicago style pizza doesn't make a whole lot of sense but I'm guessing it was made on a dare and the folks in Chicago are adamant that their's is best. To admit they were wrong would be a great loss of face.

Rather than guess, you could look up the history of Chicago-style pizza.

"Loss of face" is another way of saying "shame". Westerners don't have that.
Instead, they have guilt, which derives from their internal sense of correct behavior.

Both concepts are inculcated from birth. To the extent that they keep people on the
straight and narrow, neither is superior to the other.

Not being able to admit that you're wrong doesn't seem a very useful
trait. And it's also not limited to Asians. Look at your Presidente.

I don't see how Chicago pizza can be "wrong". When made with good ingredients,
it can be quite tasty.

When my wife and son went to Chicago for a family funeral they went out
to a place that was supposedly famous for its Chicago style deep dish
pizza. They did not like it at all.

We got a pizza from Gino's East and took it back to the hotel. Most of it
ended up in the garbage, even though I hate wasting food.

I can't say as I like it all that much, given that I'm a pizza minimalist. But
the concept isn't horrible. It's a bit like pizza rustica.

As with so many things, the execution of the dish is crucial.

It isn't prohibited to sell unappealing pizza. Who are these "authorities" that
he could have called? I once ordered Chicago style deep dish pizza. I *did
not like it at all* either. I won't buy it again. Live and learn.

Somewhere in Chicago, they sell Chicago style deep dish pizzas that
Dave Smith' wife and son don't like. I think this is going to keep me
awake at night.

Most Chicagolanders agree with Dave and I. Chicago style deep dish pizza is
not particularly popular in Chicagoland. Chicagoland is huge. The City of
Chicago is even huge. It has everything except decent weather, though they
don't really have tornados.

Like the fact that they also eat meat?
