Tastes awful. Most likely cost cutting. Progresso's Hearty Tomato Soup I think is far better than Campbell's... I think all Progresso's soups are much better than Campbell's. As a canned soup Progresso is as close to homemade as it gets, and better than from many home cooks. |

That said, making soup is not difficult at all. It does take some time though as it has to cook for some time. We use an 8 quart pot. I made chicken vegetable a couple of weeks ago. My 8 quarts had more chicken meat than Campbells puts in a 55 gallon drum. |

I always consider the Subject line. >Canned soups have been going downhill for decades. If you want good >soup, you gotta learn to make it yourself. I make a lot of my own soups that I freeze but sometimes I want something different which is why I keep a selection of canned Progresso soups Usually during winter Canned soups go on sale, Progresso at $1 per can any flavor is a good buy. I also like Progresso because it's not condensed, just pour into a bowl and nuke it. With Campbells some flavors I eat straight from the can, no added water, no heating... vegtable beef is good that way. |

That sounds like a good scratch recipe. I also like to put chopped fresh garden tomatoes into tomato soup and a bit of real onions. I don't like pureed/mushy soup of any kind. Ps- basil goes well in that soup too. |

One had a picture of a Star Wars character and the other had a picture of the characters from the animated movie "Cars." I don't know what kind of soup they were since it wasn't evident on the label. The cans had pull top lids - that's a pretty good improvement. All cans should have that. Andy Warhol had it right. The important part of Campbell's soup isn't what's inside, it's what's on the outside of the can. |
