So let me summarize this. You accuse her of doing what you do: saying
you have someone killfiled when you don't. We'll let you get away with
it this time, but this had better be the last time!

Are you as dumb as she is? I did have her filtered at one time. Thanks
to compulsive responders like yourself, I was still exposed to her
posts. Rather than reply to them third hand, I took her out so that I
can reply to her lies and idiocy directly. She was replying to my posts
when she said she had me filtered.

If that doesnt help you, try searching for almond chicken casserole. Not
amandine nor almondine. And its hotdish, not hot dish, but search
engines are are still going to bring up the exact same hits as casserole.

My daughter made a casserole with chicken, mushrooms, and one can each of cream of chicken/mushroom soup. It was put in a slow cooker and left for a few hours. It was surprising that she would make something with canned soup but it was undeniably tasty. I'll bet you could do the same with raw rice. Just mix it up in a pan with the soup and some extra water. Then add chicken and almonds and stick in the oven. If it was me, I'd ditch the almonds and use mushroom instead.

That is a super old school dish for her to make.

I like that.

She has range and chops.

If life gets real busy dishes like that will pay dividends.

And don't forget the Bineshi true wild rice...

https://bineshiiwildrice.store/

That will add a really nice depth of flavor without being hard and odd
like so-called black "wild rice"...

That old-school food might make an interesting anthropology class: Foods of the Boomer Generation. We go through the cooking of the recent decades. The 50's would have stuff like Jello-O salads, maybe maraschino cherry cake. The 60's could be stir fry and fondue. 70's would quiche and nachos. 80's: buffalo wings?

A class like that would be very interesting to the kids of 2050 - when they're all eating printed nutra-cubes.

One of the things I have a hard time imagining is a wild rice farm.

I'm well aware that Gary wrote that. I was responding to you, Dave. The one
who claimed to have me filtered. I used the term "hot dish" and still didn't
find the recipe. Yes, someone did post a link to one that fit the parameters
of what I originally mentioned but I should have spelled out that none of
the food was cooked prior to it going into the casserole dish. Save for the
condensed soup that is because I assume that Campbell's or whoever cooked
it.

Read my original post, Davy boy. I asked if anyone had such a recipe. I
didn't ask anyone to look up a recipe for me. As for the sucking... Someone
here does. That's for sure.

How did I shoot it down? I said I would save the recipe. It's just that the
particular recipe from that link is a whole lot more work than the one my
mom used to make. Hers had you dump everything in the casserole dish as is
and then bake. No cooking of anything first.

Why don't you go **** off with Dave? You two could have a right howling ****
off match. I'll bet that would be fun for both of you.

My daughter made a casserole with chicken, mushrooms, and one can each of
cream of chicken/mushroom soup. It was put in a slow cooker and left for a
few hours. It was surprising that she would make something with canned soup
but it was undeniably tasty. I'll bet you could do the same with raw rice.
Just mix it up in a pan with the soup and some extra water. Then add chicken
and almonds and stick in the oven. If it was me, I'd ditch the almonds and
use mushroom instead.

---

I pretty much only use my slow cooker for baked beans now. Most slow cooker
recipes do have condensed soup in them. I do or did (might have gotten rid
of it) a cookbook for the slow cooker with no canned soup. I think we just
got burned out on slow cooker food. That was mostly what we ate for years
due to Angela's dance schedule. I was okay with the food until Angela
pointed out that it had a "Crock-Pot" taste to it. And she was right. Seemed
that pretty much no matter what I cooked in there, the taste wasn't quite
the same as what was done on the stove or in the oven.

I am mainly just wondering about bake times. Although I did love this dish,
I couldn't eat it now as almonds give me OAS. I was thinking that I might
make it for the gardener though. Yeah, I could make it without the almonds
but those were my favorite part.

That old-school food might make an interesting anthropology class: Foods of
the Boomer Generation. We go through the cooking of the recent decades. The
50's would have stuff like Jello-O salads, maybe maraschino cherry cake. The
60's could be stir fry and fondue. 70's would quiche and nachos. 80's:
buffalo wings?

A class like that would be very interesting to the kids of 2050 - when
they're all eating printed nutra-cubes.

One of the things I have a hard time imagining is a wild rice farm.

---

I like to imagine wild rice farms. Cranberry bogs too!

I'm not stupid at all. That's why I asked if anyone had a recipe. Apparently
you are the stupid one or at least confused. You seemed to think that I
wanted someone to look it up for me. Nope. I can do that myself. And I did.
Did not find such a recipe.

Who is a compulsive responder? Look in the mirror much? Oh and... You seem
to think that my life is like that movie, "Groundhog Day" where the people
repeat the same day over and over again. Nope. Every day is a new day here

Thank you VERY much! Although this isn't quite what my mom made, it is very
close. No parmesan in hers and she likely subbed in the chicken broth. I
shall be making this soon. Just have to figure out the rice because I use
brown. Unless I can find some light brown because it has the same cook time
as white rice.

Look everyone! A helpful response! Squeedleedeedleedee!

I don't need to HIRE one. I *am* one. I've never seen anything in it yet
though. Except for that time that my brother swapped it out for a glass ball
of the same size with an angel in it. I freaked!

Yeah, those guys should probably go drink beer and shoot pool with your
gardener.

For the recipe, just throw all the ingredients (raw) in your pot and
cook them the same way your mom did. If it worked a century ago, it will
work today.

Congrats! Why not buy a bottle of champagne to have with the chicken.
And invite the gardener? Hope things work out.

FWIW, I make hotdish all the time, but rice can be tricky, especially if
you are planning to use raw rice. There needs to be plenty of liquid or
youll end up with crunchy rice. I generally choose to pre-cook my rice,
and make adjustments based on that. If you plan to use brown rice, Id
definitely pre-cook it since it has such a long cook time. If using white,
Id choose a plain American long grain (cheap basic). Honestly, Minute
Rice or parboiled rice work best in casseroles such as this calling for raw
rice. Fancier white rices such as jasmine or basmati usually impart too
much flavor to be used for such concoctions.

Dearie, let me explain. If you search almondine you will find
recipes. If you search amandine you will also find some. Dare I say
it, there are also recipes under Chicken Almond and Almond Chicken.
Only a stubborn person would insist on your mother's recipe spelling
when most likely some mid-western farm woman had a jumped up idea of
how to make her ordinary casserole sound elegant in the church recipe
book.
I sincerely doubt that your recipe is French in origin -- not with
canned soup.

But, but, but if they find it a waste of time, why do they keep
talking about it from behind the curtains?

Yeah, but I don't know how she did it other than using the oven. Bake temp.,
time amounts, etc.

The word "Amandine" is French. It has a specific meaning. Almond Chicken is
a Chinese recipe. This is all beside the point. Point being, *I* could not
seem to find her specific recipe. Jinx did find one that was close enough so
now it's all really a moot point. No? Oui!
