They had a salad for awhile that I liked. Nice blend of greens and grape
tomatoes. No more.

I think the black cherry tastes different and the one with banana. I hate
anything banana flavored. The strawberry kiwi might taste different. I
haven't tried it. But the other reds taste the same to me.

The restaurant that used to be next door had a period where they made a great cup of coffee. I asked them what kind of coffee it was but the guy didn't know. It was just some stuff that was in an industrial service packet. I knew it wouldn't last so I enjoyed it while it lasted. After a few months, it went back to the regular weak, yet somehow harsh, coffee. I ain't got no regrets.

They're actually not the same. Soda water has sodium. I like seltzer. I
don't like soda water very much.

Yeah, my Mom made it with bananas or fruit cocktail.
Peaches sound pretty darn good.

This morning, I bought 2 boxes of Strawberry Jello and 2 nice bananas.
I'm going to make this early so I can have some this evening for
dessert.
With vanilla ice cream. That addition always takes it over the top.

Same with mine which also has been gone for many years. The first time
I went there, I had the "chicken planks" meal, not the fish. That
chicken was so darn good that I never tried the fish planks. I'm sure
they were equally tasty. I also always bought some extra hush puppies.
Those were good too.

Nothing local anymore that I know of. I'll have to investigate.

I do know that chains very in quality. I loved "Golden Corral" at one
location. When they closed, I tried the other that was closest and was
very disappointed. Might have just been that particular night but the
food wasn't good and I've never gone back.

Actually no. I made this and it's been in the fridge for 30 minutes or
so. The banana slices are floating on top. I thought 2 bananas would
be good for the 4 cups of jello that I made but looking at this dish,
next time I'll use twice as much banana. One banana for each cup of
jello.

if you use the 'quick set' method on the box end cap, the bananas will
not float -- they will stay distributed throughout the mixture. Quick
set method takes maybe a half hour. As I recall, you are replacing
something like half the recipe liquid with ice, stir until dissolved,
refrigerate until mixture becomes somewhat thick and slurpy-like, then
stir in your additions. Return to the refrigerator and let set
completely, probably another 3,4 hours.

Got to thank my mother! She gave me those Jell-O molds around 1987. I
hung them as decorations in other kitchens, too. I've never used them as
Jell-O molds. They just seem to have been always around in my life.

I've been toting these mold pans around and hanging them up for years.
I've never once used them to make Jell-O. They are only as nifty retro
decorations.

Soda water can have sodium but there's nothing that says it has to. My guess is that most people make soda water/seltzer at home using plain old tap water. I suppose some would add salt but most don't.

I used one of those soda siphons for a while but gave it up, because
the CO2 gave the water a salty flavor I didn't like. I used plain old
not artificially softened tap water, so I knew what went into it.

I think you could use those to make whipped cream. Have you ever tried
that? My guess is they have nitrous oxide cartridges for that
application but CO2 would probably work too.

No, I haven't. There's a different one for whipped cream, and I
assumed the nozzle was slightly different to accommodate the
thickness.

I would guess that the cartridge fitting is different too, so CO2
wouldn't work from a physical perspective.

AFAIC, whipped cream in a can suits my purposes. It's worth my time
to whip cream for a group of people, but not for individual servings.
My husband and kids used to ask for it. It lasted seemingly forever,
so they could bust into it whenever they wanted without going through
the process of whipping cream. Whatever cream I put in a canister
would never last that long.

Haha! We could have purchased it, but I am not a jade fan... and I
had enough pearls, so didn't purchase that either. Our big purchase
was silk. Silk filled comforters for ourselves and the family, silk
filled pillows for us. Oh, and we bought a rug in Tibet - made of yak

My one grandma had copper ones up high, all over her kitchen. She kept them
polished but AFAIK, never actually used them.

Yes, I know. I like to use them occasionally when making things like crab mousse
for buffet since all my kids love that and it looks fancy that way in the fish
mold. I had them hanging in previous home but that was around 22 years ago or
so. I had some really pretty ceramic type molds that were flowered which I hung,
but passed them on to daughter.

I don't remember that, but I do remember copper pans that weren't
certified as safe for cooking being used as kitchen decoration - I
imagine "antique" stores are littered with those things now.

Whipped cream in cans is cool. It's pure poison for my guts which is bad but also good.

Oh, I vaguely remember my mother using them in the 60's. I'm the one
who uses them as decorations.

I use cast iron trivets as... trivets to set hot pans on. They
belonged to my grandmother.
