So you're living a lie.

I think you're a bit too literal and overly presumptive.

It's the entire point. People can avoid obese, diabetic people by
looking in another direction. People can't avoid second hand smoke
simply by looking away.

You are so busted. That didn't sound right so I looked up the history
of the big mac.

Remember, I was a young kid actually eating at McD once a week when
they first arrived in the early 1960's. No big macs then and once they
were created, they never sold for 19 cents.
Here's the real history with some snipping:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Big Mac debuted at Delligatti's Uniontown, Pennsylvania McD's
in 1967, (He was an early McD's franchiser), selling for 45 cents.
The Big Mac proved popular, and it was added to the menu of
all U.S. restaurants in 1968.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whatever you ate in California in 1965 for 19 cents was NOT a big mac.

It's driven by hysterical folks with no clue. I even had some silly
**** try to tell me they were less safe than cigarettes because they
put water in the lungs. Heaven help sitting near her as she never took
a hot shower (1000% the water vapor in 1 minute of shower). These
things have like a 1/2 TS water that lasts for 8 hours use.

A vaper passed me in the street the other day. The smell etc was just as
offensive as cig smoke.
You vapers have NO ****ing idea of the effect you have on others.

The only negative I've heard about them is it can start under-age
"smokers" down that slippery slope. I know they are banned, but not
sure why and don't care. My attitude toward smoking/e-smoking is as
unforgiving as Bruce's attitude is about fat people eating fast food.

My gut feeling in this is that smoking will get popular with the young folks in the near future. Enjoy the air while you can!

Except they won't be smoking tobacco.

For the record, I never once even considered sleeping with you. And
you know that. You're the one who somehow got the idea that I was
going to move in with you - and you posted that to RFC just out of the
total blue.

After having met you twice at casual austin.food gatherings 2 or 3
years ago and not giving you any indication that there was any sort of
romantic interest in the least, you somehow twisted that into MY
MOVING IN WITH YOU?

That was just way too Psycho for me. I sat there at stared at the
screen for at least 15 minutes wondering, WTF? That was just way too
spooky. I've met weird, semi-psycho women before but you win, hands
down. Mapi of austin.general still holds the male title, but at least
he announced his psychosis right there lying on the floor of the bar
at B.D. Reilly's rather than romantically obsessing over me for 2
years.

Needless to say, you need to come to terms with what happened and why
your mind works that way and stop making up excuses for your fixation
and disappointment before we become the next Yoli and Michael. I'd
prefer you use a sniper rifle on me from a few hundred yards away.
There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo.

And Jeremy, I was just tired of your decade of bullshit and visions of
grandeur about all these things you're "working on" or have not done
in the past. Even posting a call for meetings with imaginary people
about imaginary projects of yours at "the normal time and place", as
if you are somebody important with a life. I'm pretty sure you're
manic depressive mixed with habitual liar.

Sorry I don't fit either of your Ideal Psycho Pal Profiles.

For the record, I never once even considered sleeping with you. And

Seems to me a McBurger was 15 cents, so maybe the cheeseburger was 19 cents..

Um, did I say I do it up and down the street? Nope. I use them in
bars that allow cigarettes.

That one is true. But they start with cigarettes too so it's probably
better if they are going to start, to use the less damaging sorts.
Better they never start but we all know that.

Most folks ban vape because they see a plume of smoke, unaware it is
water vapor almost entirely, and *assume* it is dangerous. The medical
community is starting to support those who just can't quit, with
swapping to vaping. Healthier if not perfect.

No bars here allow smoking - it's forbidden by law. So smokers can only
smoke outside. Vapers are trying to twist the law in their favour, damn
them!

To say nothing of the fact that what is an offensive "smell" to one, might
not be to another. Personally, I love the smell of cigarettes, cigars, pipes
etc., but hate the smell of many perfumes and after shaves, so I wonder if
those people have any idea of the effect they have on others?

What I hate the most about smoking is the smell of butts in an ashtray.

Most of the people I know who have successfully quit smoking have
'wanted' to quit. The ones who unsuccessfully quit have liked smoking
far too much. My wife and my brother both quit virtually on the spot
midway through a pack. My mother never could and never really wanted to
even though it was obviously damaging her health. While she reached 85,
the last 10 years weren't anything to write home about.

My friend owns a house in Aberdeen and rents it out. Her rule is 'no
smoking'. The last tenants left recently and she went up to look the place
over. It stank of cigarette smoke. She has had to completely redecorate
and is having to replace all the carpets, mattresses and some soft
furnishings. She has steam cleaned everything. I got a text last night to
say the only place she could smell it now is in the hall and she is hoping
the new carpet in there will take care of that.

I feel so sorry for her. She has been working on it all week and is
exhausted.

In the U.S., those matters are left to the states to handle.

It is illegal to smoke in enclosed spaces here.

I quit smoking on the spot when I became pregnant with my daughter. It had
just been known that it was damaging to the baby. No, it wasn't easy but if
you really want to, you will. I have never been temped since and abhor the
smell of it.

I haven't smoked for 30 years but I do dislike the smell of smoke when
you go into a building. Now it is the law that you may not stand
smoking within so many metres of the entrance, that has pretty much
dealt with that.

No, it's been years since one could smoke in a public place in Canada.

It is also illegal here to smoke in ones car if there are children
with you - there was a big protest about that but it seems to me that
the confines of a car are the worst place you could inflict second
hand smoke on kids!!

I agree and they are talking about bringing that law in here.

Anyone planning to quit smoking should keep some old butts in an ashtray
in the house. When they get a craving for a smoke they can go and get a
whiff of the butts.
