suggested a heat difusser. Anyone know if you can use one on a glass top
stove?

I'm not sure... you could always try it and see...

If it doesn't work, you can always use a double-boiler for the
delicate sauces.

What kind of pans are you using? The cycling of the smoothtops takes
a few times to get used to. I would prefer gas, but my house came
with a whirlpool smoothtop. No gas in the house so we had to learn
how to use it. We use cast iron and SS with thick disks at least 1/4
inch thick and have no problems. Although many people here use the
traditional older styles with no disk, I'd think they might be a
problem. If I'm wrong I'm sure I'll be corrected. <g>

I don't know about the difusser but I agree with Gar. No problem here
with my Cooks Essentials on a GE smooth top. Very thick aluminum base
with SS on the outside.

I've done this on my GE by using one of the 1/4 inch thick, 8"
diameter solid disks over the smallest, lowest-wattage element. Works
like a charm.
