They take up so much space in the cupboards! The there are all the electric gizmos to fill any other spare room lol. |

Usually what I put into it is stuff on sale. Like when one of the stupidmarkets have 'Can-Can' (like Shoprite does/used to-they are no longer in my area) sales. I stock up. Also, things I buy by the case like Cream of Onion soup (which is not available in my area-I get it mail order by the case). That kind of stuff gets transferred to the regular cabinets as needed. Stuff you don't use everyday like pasta, fancy condiments, extra containers of pasta, etc. |

Which is why I 'wing it' most of the time. > > Translation: > As I am such a good cook I don't need recipes. Good cooks don't need recipes... I have plenty of cook books but I only refer to them occasionally for ideas of what to eat, but mostly I use them for reference for citing in my posts here. I've never in life refered to a recipe while cooking, I don't know why or how but once I look at a recipe it's commited to memory forever.. and other than for curing meats I never follow recipes exactly anyway, I wing it and substitute, always comes out better than had I followed the recipe by the book. I often refer to cookbooks only for the list of ingredients as to whether I have them on hand, need to use a substitute, etc. I rarely meausre for cooking-baking I do. Or for something I've never tried before. A friend's wife is a Vegan. Not used to cooking Vegan. |

It holds (from bottom to top) crockpots, newspapers to recycle, footstool; canned goods of all types; jarred goods (spaghetti sauce, jams and the like), bagged sugars, bagged flour; cereals and disposable cutlery/plates/food storage containers. Used to store the cookbooks in the pantry but we use them so much that we moved 'em to a cabinet near the workspace. Whereas my mind is like a steel trap---rusty and prone to snap shut at least provocation :-) ---I like to have the cookbook at hand when making almost anything. Just to be sure that I don't, for example, leave the salt out of the bread (UGH!! Wife has done that several times, she doesn't seem to mind but *I* do!!!) We have the luxury of plenty of cabinet space. Four(?) years after renovating the kitchen we still have cabinets that are largely unused (better than overstuffed cabinets!). The cabinets above the workspace countertops are for storage of cooking & baking staples: oil, pasta, rice, cocoa, shortening, flavorings, etc. Best -- Terry |

You're not from the U.S., are you? (chuckling at what must be going through your head). Manwich is a brand name for sloppy joe seasoning. Here's a recipe, if those are unfamiliar to you. Note that the cinnamon isn't standard, although if you taste Manwich, it clearly contains cinnamon. * Exported from MasterCook * Sloppy Joes Recipe By :Carol Peterson Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Sandwiches Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 pounds ground chuck -- 80/20% 1 medium onion -- minced 1/2 medium green bell pepper -- minced 15 ounces tomato sauce 6 ounces tomato paste 1 teaspoon chili powder 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon Brown the ground beef. Add onion and pepper and cook until tender, but not soft. Add tomato sauce and paste, then the spices. Simmer until ready to serve. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Serving Ideas : Serve on hamburger buns. Potato chips are a required accompaniment. Pickles optional. |
