Default Thanks for Corned Beef Help

I appreciate all the tips and advice everyone gave. Thanks
Everything went well but we didn't eat the corned beef for dinner. DH
wasn't impressed with the smell or texture even though it is very much
like the texture of peameal bacon. He made all kinds of horrendous
faces! What a baby! <rolling eyes> This is the guy that will eat just
about anything so I'm not sure what his problem was. I liked the taste
and thought it was a nice change from regular roast beef for sandwiches.
I let it cool then sliced it very thin for sandwiches. Then I divided
it up for the kids to try and kept some for myself. I'm going to try
freezing a little because if the results are good, I'll make another one
at some point then freeze it in slices for sandwiches.

I've never yet heard anyone say my corned beef smelled anything but
when-do-we-eat scrumptious or had a strange texture... only complaint
I've ever heard no matter how much I made is that there wasn't enough.
I've never in my life had to freeze corned beef. So how did you
prepare it... sounds like you phucked it up, in fact I know you did.

Leftover corned beef? Make corned beef hash! We eat it at breakfast
with eggs.

Sorry, that isn't going to happen as DH won't touch it Thanks for
the suggestion though. I'll pass that onto the kids. I haven't heard
if they like it or not. DH bet me that they won't. We'll see.

I wonder if it's too late to put it on the weber and smoke it? It
doesn't matter anyway, if no one will touch it as is - so why not give
faked pastrami a try?

I don't have a Weber smoker although I would like to get a smoker.
Nope, they won't eat pastrami either but they will eat kilbassa and
oktoberfest sausage, never hot dogs. In my zest to avoid processed
lunchmeat they developed the taste for roasted chicken or turkey breast,
roast beef and pulled meat for sandwiches. They will eat ham and
peameal bacon but side bacon is less tolerated on sandwiches. It
doesn't help that we have never really been a sandwich type family
either. I think about the only sandwiches that all of us love are BLTs
or toasted tomato sandwiches but only when tomatoes are running and
chicken wraps. See by giving them healthy foods most of the time, they
developed those taste buds that say no way to some things and it's my
own fault BTW we don't dried cereal either other than homemade
granola. That's a whole grocery aisle I can always skip.

It's not necessary to have a Weber smoker to do some smoking, a regular
kettle grill will work for a small thing like that. Even a gas grill
can do some smoking in a pinch.

If any of that is possible and/or desireable, let us know what you have
and further details can be provided.

Some people are just curmudgeons. I'm sure it was just fine. I can
imagine that some people just might not like Corned beef just because of
the texture/flavor. I like it & your original post has made me want to
make it again for the second time in my life (the first being about 8
years ago)

I like the suggestion that some made to make corned beef hash with it
for breakfast. That sounds yummy.

Did you do the baking step? Bet that would have changed his
mind. I'm not super wild about it when it's just boiled, either.

She didn't disclose anything about what she did, not even what she
bought... but if she says its texture is similar to peameal bacon then
I seriously doubt what she made was corned beef, because no way no how
is the texture of pork loin anything like the texture of beef brisket.
