Fridge-life of chopped chicken in pickle juice?
I chopped up chicken breast into stir-fry chunks. I left the pieces
in the fridge, immersed in salty, garlicy vinegar from a jar pickles. Haven't had time to cook it in the past few days. How many days can I leave it marinating? Cooking Ignoramus |

My schedule for cooking it is if-y for the next few days. I wonder how many days the chicken pieces can remain in the fridge marinating? If I freeze it, and an evening frees up, I need a day to defrost it (I prefer defrosting in the fridge). Cooking Ignoramus |

If you freeze be sure to take it out of the glass jar and put it into a plastic container first. The jar could bust. Freezing it should work, though. -- Siobhan Perricone "I ain't afraid of your Yahweh I ain't afraid of your Allah I ain't afraid of your Jesus I'm afraid of what ya do in the name of your god" - Holly Near |

I was wondering how long the marination can take place in the fridge before it meat becomes unsafe. I was citing the complications in freezing it because I don't want to do that. If an evening becomes free, I will not be able to defrost it right away. I wonder if anyone has an idea of how long the marination can safely go on for (in the fridge)? Thanks. Cooking Ignoramus. |

If the chicken was fairly fresh when you put it in the brine, you could probably get by for five days with it. I wouldn't go more than that. -- Siobhan Perricone "I ain't afraid of your Yahweh I ain't afraid of your Allah I ain't afraid of your Jesus I'm afraid of what ya do in the name of your god" - Holly Near |
