Default Corned Silverside/Corned beef

We have about 2lb of Corned Silverside/Corned beef for dinner
tonight... looking for quick and easy recipes? Otherwise, will just
cook it the usual way, thanks

Well... a big F*** Y'ALL

We simply simmered in it water, with some cloves, vinegar, sugar and
bay leaves.

Now, I will console myself being ignored by RIPPING another 40mins on
Da 'Track!

This past Saturday I watched Steven Reichlin's show on PBS. He did corned
beef steaks using a packer cut that he had cooked the day before. It looked
interesting but nothing that inspired me to try.

Ah, well. If I'd been moved to reply, you wouldn't have liked the answer.
It would have gone something like this:

I don't consider silverside a suitable cut for corned beef. Only brisket
for me. I'd simmer it with pickling spice:

<https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/231256/homemade-pickling-spice/>

But other than that, just as you did.

We don't like corned beef well enough to make it at home. If I want
some, I get it at the deli.

It's an area of food I havent had much personal experience with. But I
do know corned beef *done right* can be sublime, especially with some
mustard or cheese sauce. One gf years ago was a master at cooking it.

Here it is rarely available that way and so must be cooked at home.

Thanks O. I won't have time in the foreseeable future to make it from
scratch like that unfortunately, but will keep in mind.

This reminds me many years ago, I went to dinner at a friend's house.
She made her own corned beef but must have been heavy with the sodium
nitrite and it gave me some mild bronchial asthma...

I would say so, I grew out of my athma years before (or so I thought).
Until I had this silverside anyway.

Have you had any reaction with any other home cured beef? If not, it
must be that she overdid it!
