Pot Roast:
https://postimg.cc/QFqxtwCp
Was cooked in a 12 quart pot. I like to start off with larger pots
than I think necessesary, room for additions and eliminates spatters
and cook overs.
Six quart potful remaining, for tomorrow and for freezing:
https://postimg.cc/HjpGWn5P
We had no room for dessert, perhaps later or tomorrow.
Thats our Oster toaster, works splendidly, sits in a Nordicware 1/4
sheet pan, keeps crumbs from spreading:
https://postimg.cc/K1QkVRPS
My little Jilly is still doing great, she's 19 now... there she is on
my HP, right near that power button... she's already stepped on it and
shut me down, now I keep it covered with a mouse pad:

Looks like a nice hearty meal. I'm really ready for all the cold
weather foods. A beef stew may be next for us then on to braising some
beef ribs.

I need to buy some short ribs. I remember a recipe for beef short-rib
bourbon stew with white cheddar grits. Used to be on a web site that
touted "What's a grit?" Apparently they aren't maintaining it.

But the recipe was attributed to Emeril Legasse and it still is:

Looks nice, Sheldon.

It looks like a stew in that pot, not that there's anything wrong with
that.

Awww. Jilly is sweet. I remember when you took her in as a kitten.
With her brother Jack (who, sadly died years ago). I'm glad you take
care of her.

It looks weak and flavorless with too much MSG.

Really? It looks terribly bland. Anglo/Dutch cooking at its worst.

If you like that kind of food, I understand that you don't like sushi,
French cheese or wine with food. Stick to McDonalds. That's daring
enough for ya.

It looks good plus I was being polite.
sushi - I don't like any parts of raw food. Sushi might not be
all raw but it counts on dipping sauce to save it.
IMO, just a trend except for the Japanese.

I don't like French cheese? I like all cheese.
Well not the smelly kinds..

Wine with food is great if the cook/food is inferior.
Wine makes anything taste good. If the food is actually
good, you cheat yourself by eating drunk.

When I'm in the mood for that certain taste, McDonalds does it
for me.
They are not the best burgers but the taste is unique and I love
that.
You can't (or should not) compare McD burgers to others. Apples
and oranges.

Keep in mind too...as much as I defend McD, I only eat there
maybe once ever 3-4 months.

Sheldon says horrible things to people. I don't feel the need to be
polite to him.

Wrong.

That's a very long trend then.

It's always great.

A glass of wine doesn't make you drunk. You sound extremely... Ok,
I'll be polite and not finish that.

Not everyone dips sushi. I rarely do. It's a trend I've enjoyed
for 40 years.

I like all kinds of cheese, even French, Brie is a favorite.
Neither of us consumes any kind of alcohol with a meal, no particular
reason, we just don't... but that doesn't mean that we don't consume
alchohol before and/or after a meal. With a meal my wife drinks a
small pot of tea, I drink plain water.

What is a sushi dip... Heinz ketchup? For the life of me I can't
comprehend the point of bits of raw fish buried in rice, and after
paying those exhorbitant prices for raw tasteless fish and rice
dipping it in anything adds insult to injury... what pray tell is the
point... you either like tasteless raw fish and rice or you don't, but
don't try to play me by selling me it's worth the exhorbitant price
when it's dipped in some common condiment... eating sushi is exactly
the same as that story about "The kings new clothes", all about fakery
and bragging about spending a lot of money on nothing.

When I want tasty raw fish I'd much rather choose from a vast variety
of pickled herrings, costs a hell of a lot less and is infinitely
tastier. I've tried sushi, I don't consider it any kind of culinary
achievement unless you enjoy the mysterious circus production of its
preperation by an costumed Orientals. Me, I much rather matjes
herring on a bialy, at least it's flavorful and you don't need to
mortgage your house.
The Chinese can cook great food... the Japs can't cook a lick, they
put on a smarmy carny show futzing with wee tidbits of mysterious
vittles at your table, all smoke and fire, not much to eat, and
absolutely tasteless without common condiments. Actually the common
condiments are the main event, can omit the wee tidbits of raw
tasteless fish and rice. For about a buck you can chug-a-lug a bottle
of Heinz red and boast that you dined on sushi.

Hopefully, eating raw fish will turn out to be just a fad. Americans should not be eating raw fish! My brother says there's great sushi in his Indiana town. They have a Subaru factory there and the plant imported sushi chefs from Japan for the corporate executives. The chef he goes to is Mexican.

I made bean with bacon soup. I did cut back on the bacon. One pound seemed
excessive. Also added to carrots. Yum! Roasted Delicata squash and roasted
fennel. Normally I love fennel but this batch had an overwhelming licorice
taste which is too much for me. Normally it has a sweet taste with a hint of
licorice. Weird because I made it the same as always. Also corn muffins. The
recipe was vegan but I used honey instead of maple syrup so not vegan.
They're good but slightly dry. Will add a touch more oil next time.

Thank you. It turned out very good. Contained an entire head of
garlic finely minced, four whole Vidalia onions, lots of carrots,
celery and potatoes. A large can of crushed tomatoes, a few bay
leaves, and the secret ingredient a can of beer. Naturally s n'p.
Pot roast is very little work, a great one pot meal. Sometimes a pot
roast becomes a large pot of beef barley mushroom soup.
