So do I but I do chuckle when I hear them prattling on about how good
it is for you. I expect the people who start the rumour going are the
ones producing it.

I wouldn't disregard it so quickly. Kooks are irrelevant, but there's
a lot of research being done into medical uses of turmeric. Below are
some references from Wikipedia. Sounds riveting, no?

What does it matter? I believe it is beneficial anyway, but that's not
why I use it.

Grahame isn't half as objective as he likes to believe he is. He only
selectively cherry-picks his 'evidence' of science bunk and ignores
anything that contradicts his biases ,which gets very tiresome.

Usually it's other entities with their own agendas.

That's my attitude too. I use it because the recipe calls for it, and
if it happens to do me some good then great! In fact, I'll be making
a turmeric cream sauce to accompany salmon tonight - if I don't make a
pineapple, mango, roasted corn & cilantro salsa. They're both easy, so
it's just a matter of what I'm in the mood for at dinner time.
