I love Fall. I love soup. And Fall is soup making weather to me. When I was at the grocery store there was a nice portion of chuck steak in the "used meat" bin. I immediately thought "soup" so today I'm making a hearty beef and vegetable soup, minestrone style, only I'm not putting in any pasta. Lower carb you know. I calculated it out and it comes to 5 carbs per cup. It's not quite ready but I'm starving cause the house is smelling gooooood.

But, yeah, I am eager for some nice comfort soup. |

Temp. is still in the 70's. Every day I am hopeful because I see 60's ahead which is still warm here for this time of the year but then they change it to 70's again. I have soaked navy beans in the freezer and some cooked ground beef. Will add other vegetables and probably some rice or pasta. |

Nice break in the utility bill. There's been a nice breeze outside most of the time. The humidity dropped considerably so it actually feels like Fall. We just got back from a bad day of shopping and the house is hot! Went all the way to Winco to get one item that they have a lower price on and they had none. They also didn't have the fruit that I needed. So we stopped at Safeway where the Coke products were $2.75 but you had to buy 4 to get that price. And of course they only had 2 of what I wanted. So I also got 2 Sprite Zero which I don't even need right now. They also didn't have the other product that I wanted. So... Tomorrow I will have to go to yet another Safeway. And perhaps some other store as well. Not happy. |

The cow does not seem to have enough grey-cells to make a phone call prior to leaving its miserable, poorly-built, no-walls, so-called house to learn if the stores have enough product to satisfy the herds' consumption of processed foods and diet soda-pops. Don't forget, it's stated several times that it consumes at least 12 sodas every single day, if not more. Sky |

Gas is 3.15-3.60 a gallon depending on where you are this week. The average US car gets 15 miles per gallon. If you traveled 1.5 miles (then back for a round trip of 3) to save 3cents on a can of something, you spent more getting there by FAR than you 'saved'. It's called false savings. It's regrettably common when the car is fueled by another because they do not notice it. -- |

Drops to about 75 or so then we're back up into the 90s around November. One Christmas was 95F. When I was a kid though, winters used to be quite chilly. So cold in fact that the orange growers had to keep their trees warm with smudge pots. I remember wearing a jackt on Halloween most every year. I have not seen a day cold enough for my breath to fog in easily 20 years. --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! Antivirus protection is active. http://www.avast.com |

I've got a couple of ziploc bags full of miscellaneous chicken bones, celery ends, onion skins, parsnip pieces, and carrot tops ready to go for chicken stock. I'll probably make the stock 'round about Thursday. Then I'll start thinking about soup. Doris |

Our temps have been in the 70's and I believe that our baseball is played outdoors. Lemme check. Well, I stand corrected on that too! Safeco Field and that is outdoors but it certainly wasn't cold at all yesterday. It was 74 when we got home last night. That's not hot either but it's far warmer than usual for this time of year. It's currently 80 in the house. When I moved from here, they were still playing baseball in the Kingdome and that was indoors. I haven't been to a game since. |

![]() "ImStillMags" > wrote in message ... It's not quite ready but I'm starving cause the house is smelling gooooood. https://picasaweb.google.com/Sitara8...43028687854498 It was 105 yesterday. I'l pass on the soup for now. --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! Antivirus protection is active. http://www.avast.com |

I'm going to make a huge batch of Pico De Gallo and a huge batch of sour cream cucumber salad. Our daytime temps are at 80F this week but cool off to 45-50F at night. Janet US |

Almost time for that first batch of split pea with smoked ham hocks. You know, the stuff that cools into a gelatinous mass that you can cut with a knife but gets better each time you reheat it? |
