I saw Martin Yan many years ago at the San Joaquin County fair. He
gave a talk, then he completely deboned a chicken in something like 2
minutes. Does he still have the television show on PBS? We don't
watch tv anymore so I don't know. This event shows now as sold out.

I don't think he has his own current show but I could be wrong.

I saw him on PBS not too long ago, not his cooking show, but he was
traveling to other places to try their food.

Martin Yan is a very smart and impressive guy. He has a degree (or more
than one) in food science and knows LOTS of stuff. And is not the goofy
character he portrays as part of his TV cooking persona.

Jacques Pepin is a really cool guy, more the traditional French chef with
lots of knowledge and experience.

Neither of these guys is pretentious or high falutin. Great people to meet.

I thought I was the only one! I quit in the mid-90s. Don't miss it a bit
now, in fact hate it when I see a TV playing in the store. I listen to the
CNN news TV audio track on satellite radio for ten minutes or so while
doing calisthenics at about noon. Wow! They seem to run the same amount of
time with commercials as news. How can people watch this for more than a
few minutes?

Sorry! Rant off.

Thanks Cheri. I get KVIE out of Sacramento. I'll check the listings.

I don't find much on tv that is interesting. I should rephrase that.
I did make an exception this summer for the Stephen King Miniseries,
so one hour a week I will watch. Beyond that, I spend my time
cooking, reading, artwork, and of course computer time <grin>

My TV is almost on in the background but it is rare for me to actually stop
what I am doing and watch it. I get annoyed when I go to my mom's place
because she expects us to sit and watch TV while she plays on her Ipad. She
has cable but it's some funky package that has none of the channels I would
normally watch. I guess they think seniors have limited interests or
something.

I have had wine from Lodi that was surprisingly good. Do you like wine?
If so, do you have any favorites from around Lodi?

No, I'm not a wine drinker at all, but since I do live in wine country I did
take some wine classes so I could learn a bit about it, but I haven't done
any actual tasting and really know very little about the wines in our area.

Yes, I remember that from the diabetic cooking group, and that we both shop
at the Trader Joe's in Stockton.

I don't know. I guess I will have to look for it the next time I come
home after being out of town.
They used to make ketchup here in Tracy. During the summer months you
could smell that aroma all over town. I kinda miss that.

It was on the south side, coming down from the Bay.

Cool, apparently it wasn't as provocative as the pepper smell from the
Sriracha folks.

But Tracy has a Winco! I just sit and imagine what a Winco must be like.
La Bove talks about hers all the time.
