Yes, I was just getting ready to order something and saw that. However, I
paid the 50.00 fee for free shipping for life on orders over 25.00, and I
have contacted them. I will be curious as to how they're going to handle
that because I know I'm not the only one. We'll see.

Regardless of how they handle it, it's still relatively cheap. I
often deal with vendors whose free shipping threshold is $75-$150.
Besides, Amazon's free shipping is still pretty cheap, even on goods
that don't qualify. I jes paid less than $10 for an item shipped
directly from Japan! I paid only $3.50 for shipment of a hard cover
book. I can barely start my car that cheap.

Plus, there are some vendors that have free shipping. Zappos comes
to mind and they now sell cooking items. OTOH, it pays to do some
research. I usta buy New Balance shoes from Zappos. Free shipping,
even for returns. But, Zappos will not accept returned shoes if they
show ANY outside or too much wear. Guess what ..... direct from New
Balance is also free and they don't care if you wreck the shoe trying
it out, as long as you return it within 30 days. It pays to do yer
homework.

Probably not. Read it again.

I simply wait to order until I have enough items to qualify. Not like
I'm jonesing for corn-on-the-cob handle thingies or a salt pig.

I was!

But, good sense prevailed and I realized a small storage container
for my kosher salt would work jes as well.

Crikey! I find, in my old age, waiting for a newly ordered thing in
the mail is almost more fun than actually having it. No wonder the TV
home shopping industry is so successful. I gotta watch myself. I'm
such a shameless consumer tool!

They have wonderful customer service. I went to the website this morning and
requested a call from customer service and chose the 5 minutes time frame.
They called within the 5 minutes and as soon as I explained, they
immediately credited my account for the 50.00, and sent an email
confirmation. Truly pain free, and that's why I shop with them almost
exclusively, and why I love shopping online!

The economy must be improving. It was $50 before the current

I try to put stuff on my wish list to remind me when I'm looking
for a filler item. There is a website, I know I've mentioned it
before, filleritem.com ... it's crazy hard to find something you
want out of the millions of items.

Usually, if I am ordering something, I want to order it then, not
some time in the future, I need it soon.

You'd love dealExtreme.com (also dx.com) Amazingly good deals on all
kinds of Chinese gadgets -- most pretty good quality, and free shipping.
But you're ordering direct from Hong Kong and it typically takes about
3 or 4 weeks to get your stuff.

Last week I ordered a leather (probably leatherette) cover for my new
Kindle, and a wireless mouse; $14.00 total. A month ago I ordered a
flashlight. Before that, a 99¢ USB bluetooth adapter...

I bought some music from them a couple of weeks ago and, for whatever
reason, the software to download the album failed to install. There
is a no return policy on downloaded music for obvious reasons.

I wrote, got a response almost immediately reversing the charge and
explaining other ways I could get the tunes. When they asked for
feedback on my customer service experience, I said There's a reason
I've been a customer since the 90s, amazon has your back. Whatever the
outcome, I know I'll get a response and quickly.

How do you watch it on TV? I guess that's as good an excuse as any to
buy a Chromecast dongle.

What a great site! I see very reasonably priced wifi "repeaters"...
now that I have a more powerful router and don't need it anymore.

I'd like to get a case for my Nexus 7, but I don't see how to tell
which one it is via settings. From what I see on the internet, it
should be a Nexus 7 II, although it has the "soft" back, there's no
camera and it has a long slot at one end (which I'll assume is for
ventilation) - so I have no idea what case to order. Guess I need to
go to a brick & mortar store to figure it out and might as well just
buy whatever it is I'm looking at since I'm there anyway. :/

If peeps preferred smaller stores over the big boxex, then the smaller stores would survive...

I remember when everyone was moaning that Borders "put smaller bookstores out of business". *Consumers*, with their preferences, put the kibbosh on the smaller stores...and anyways where now is the once-mighty Borders...???

People forget that one of the hallmarks of a consumer-driven market economy is *failure*...it is a brutal truth.

I didn't order from Amazon on purpose for years because there was no
way on god's green earth I was going to order multiple items just to
get free shipping when I only wanted one thing that didn't cost $50.
I noticed they'd dropped the minimum, so I ordered from there a couple
of times in the last few months and as luck would have it, I actually
made the minimum. Now that it's up to $35, I will have less interest
in considering Amazon in the future. I ordered a case +screen
protectors for my phone from EBay in September for $6 +change (total)
- AND the shipping was free. I like that.

What year was it introduced? If it came out in 2012, it's the first
generation or original Nexus 7. If it came out this past July, it's
the second-generation, also referred to as the Nexus 7 FHD or the
Nexus 7 (2013).

From what I see on the internet, it
> should be a Nexus 7 II, although it has the "soft" back, there's no

The first generation (2012) Nexus 7 has a front facing camera and a
dimpled plastic back with a grippy texture with 'nexus' written in the
portrait (vertical) orientation. The 2013 Nexus 7 has both front and
back cameras and a smooth-textured plastic back with 'nexus' written
in the landscape (horizontal) orientation.

and it has a long slot at one end (which I'll assume is for

Don't do that. Most brick & mortar stores have far less selection
(mostly "generic" cases, not made to exactly fit a specific model) and
charge a whole lot more for them. Look on Amazon. You can get a
high-quality, exact-fit case for your Nexus 7 for as little as five
bucks. Poetic is one of the more highly regarded case brands, but
you'll find similarly-designed cases under other labels as well. They
offer several styles - colors, too, though colors other than black
usually cost more.

Speaking of Amazon, I don't shop DealExtreme much anymore, because
most of what I look for there I can find on Amazon for the same price,
sometimes cheaper. And sometimes from US-based sellers, too, meaning I
don't have to wait weeks for delivery.

ExCUSE me, I only order items I genuinely need! Not frivolous stuff!

Ahem. (laugh) I totally hear you, I usually think about whatever
it is a few times before I actually pull the trigger. Other times,
I just need the thing and I'd rather not wait a week.

I still have that recipe rock on my wish list for like a year now.
I do not need a recipe rock.

You? Wow. Hard to picture.

Back in the olden days when I ordered from catalogs, I'd wait a few
issues, if I still wanted it and could afford it, I went ahead and
bought it. I have a smidgen of self-control in the buying department.
Online, that makes it a little tougher. It's a good rule you have.

On tv, using either Roku or Chromecast (which involves 'flinging' it
from my laptop or desktop). Amazon doesn't have an Android app for
watching videos (they only support their Kindle tablets), so with my
Nexus tablets, I first sideloaded Flash. All that means is go to
Adobe.com and download and install Flash for Android. Firefox for
Android runs flash, so if you don't have Firefox on your Nexus,
install that, too. After that, it's simple: just open Firefox, go to
Amazon, login to your account and select a video to play. Firefox will
ask if you want to run the plugin (Flash). Touch Yes, and and watch
your video.

Really, I think a company who'd cater to that would do well,
especially if they'd find a cheaper way to get stuff to there.

You're right, they keep reminding me I have that benefit, but I haven't
looked into it yet. I do catch up on shows online, I have a cord that
goes to my tv so I can see what's on my monitor on my tv. Not too fancy.

Uh-huh, and the demand for buggy builders is down since they invented the
automobile too, and just look at what happened to the VCR business.

I finally found a web site that could tell me. It's the older model.
Wish it had a camera, but I didn't want it for that purpose - so I
can't complain! It certainly isn't as big and cumbersome as the
testers want you to believe.... and I *like* the textured back.

I have Firefox installed. Thanks for the lesson. I googled and
didn't see anything I understood.

Can you tell me more about the process? I see they charge $79 for
Prime, but I'm not seeing a Netflix type library to choose from. I
see movies that you rent can individually like you would with Comcast
On Demand. If I wanted to do that, I'd just give Comcast even more
money (which I won't do) because free shipping from Amazon isn't worth
$80 to me.

At this point, Comcast and Netflix seem to be talking about joining
forces - so maybe I should just wait. Although Chromecast still seems
perfect for when you're on the road... dial into Netflix and pick a
movie. Would the hotel's wifi router be a problem getting the stream?
I don't think I could afford to tether the Nexus to my phone and
stream movies that way.

I'd like to see a link to the movies that come free with prime.
Thanks.

TD usta be cool. I changed from NewEgg to TD cuz NE had this
ridiculous 15% restocking fee on returns and TD didn't. Now TD does.

I wouldn't mind that too much, they deserve to be screwed sideways and

The shipping cost is pretty important for us on this rock. I got a deal
on a ASUS Transformer Book T100 Z3740 which has a list price of $399. I
got it from B&H Photo for $424 with shipping. Amazon's price of $480
with shipping was not a contender.

The ASUS T100 looks to be a very hot item. It's a 10.1" tablet with a
detachable keyboard that uses a new Intel processor that claims to have
an 11 hour battery life. Amazing if true. The thing that sold it to me
was that it runs on full blown Windows 8.1 and comes with Microsoft
Office 2013 Home and Student. Essentially it's a less elegant Microsoft
Surface Pro at less than half the price. What a deal! The $399 price is
for the 64 GB model. I suspect that there will be some price gouging and
the sellers will try to slip the $349 32 GB unit past consumers at $399
or higher. If you're interested in this machine, please know what you're
getting.
