Default Orange-flower water - best source?

At least one Indian grocery I checked at didn't have it. Should I be searching for Mideastern stores instead, or what?

One thing I use it for is baked custard - but it's good for sprinkling over fruit salad too. With rose water and maybe a little sugar.

It's plastered all over the internet. Normal people want to buy
things in person.

Well I don't know what you mean by "normal" people but online businesses are
outselling the brick and mortar places and putting them out of business.

Why should I go to a store when I can spend a lot less time and no gas to
get it delivered to me? And usually for free? And usually in a way that
will benefit me? Like through Swagbucks so that I can get gift cards for
Amazon.com? Usually costs less money too. Win win.

Me too. Normal people don't wander around stores looking for things that a
lot of stores don't even carry. It makes for crabby people in my experience.

You'd have to buy a lot of other stuff to get it for "free". No
thanks. I don't think that way.

Normal people pick up the phone and ask if they don't know which store
to find it in.

Indeed! Heck, my elderly parents even do a lot of online shopping. My dad
needed new pants and shoes. My mom ordered them online and that saved her a
lot of time. She did look in stores and couldn't find the shoes anywhere.
She could find the pants but one pair here and one pair there.

Yes, I do go to Target almost every week but our store is one of the smaller
ones. The last few things I bought from them were not even in stock in my
store. Sure it takes me a few days to get the order if I order online
but... That's better to me than having to drive to some other city. I'll
do it if there is an immediate need but I try to plan ahead so there is
rarely an immediate need.

Not always. I can get everything from Target for free shipping. Lots of
stuff from Costco has free shipping too. And some places have a minimum as
little as $25. It's not a big deal.

Ha! No they don't! You need to get with the times! You'll waste a lot of
time if that's actually what you do. And if you do get someone to answer
the phone, you'll be lucky if they give you the right answer.

I prefer to do my browsing online. I find much more interesting things that
way.

I guess I'm not normal then. Except for groceries, I probably do 99%
of my shopping online. If I have to go to a store, I like to be able
to go straight to the item(s) I want, pay for them, and get out. One
thing I can't stand is when a store moves everything around and I
can't find what I'm looking for.

They not only answer the phone, I get the right answer... probably
because I don't pick big box stores and know how to ask questions that
get the right answer.

Most normal people don't like to waste their time with phone calls and
fruitless searches. YMMV

I do grocery shopping, etc., go to Costco and places like that every so
often, but I don't like to shop or browse stores at all. I prefer to buy
online for non-perishables...oh, and I'm normal, in spite of shopping
online. LOL

It works and it works fast. As I said up-thread: try a full service
liquor store. It ain't brain surgery finding orange flower water and
it's only difficult if you make it. Ordering online is a PITA and
having to buy some requisite number of dollars worth of other goods
just to get free shipping is no savings. Fool yourself about all you
want. I'm not disabled, I live in a city and internet shopping makes
absolutely no sense for me unless I can save a significant amount of
money by doing it. I am not going to pay Amazon's rip off prices
(before they tack on shipping) and try to fool myself into thinking
I've saved money because it ain't true.

The potential for comparing various brands in the store, getting
information from the shopkeep, developing a relationship with the
shopkeep and store, finding other wholly unrelated items of interest.
And certainly many more.

The reason I don't buy records/CD's as much as I once did is the fact
that I can root around among the product looking for oddities. Same as
with bookstores, though I do still have a couple of good large used
bookstores around.

> Usually costs less money too. Win win.

That's true they can usually do better with price, but I don't mind
spending a little extra to ensure the life of a local store and their
family.

You want find any humans or personal relationships or invites to dinner
and parties and so forth thataway. But from previous exchanges I'll
assume your counter is that you don't want any of these things and
would like to avoid them, and if not, then you don't like surprises, or
your husband and daughter don't.

Ah! That's the nexus of this: We live in cities.

I find internet shopping and purchasing has its utility, but when
possible I like to do things the way mankind has for the past many
millenia too--it has its value!

In some areas, that's all you have. The big box stores. The little places
are closing right and left here. They can't afford to stay in business.

You're wrong there sf. There have been countless reports on the news and
the Internet recently about how online shopping is hurting the brick and
mortar stores business. In this area you can even get groceries delivered
by Amazon. I haven't done that yet though.

You have full service liquor stores there and I guess you presume that all
places do. They don't! We used to when the liquor stores were state run.
Now anyone can sell it.

And Amazon most certainly doesn't have rip off prices. Their prices overall
are very good! Yes, you have to check the price and check the shipping.
But if straight from them, then you get free shipping with a $25 order.
They have recently done something that they call add ons or something like
that where countless other companies go through them and they will tack your
small item onto your order for free. Yes, it will ship from a different
place so you might not get everything all on the same day. I order a *lot*
of stuff from Amazon. If I remember to go in through my brother's website,
he gets paid for what I order. And I have many gift cards for them through
Swagbucks. So often my order is discounted or even free.

Me too. Having worked in retail for so many years, hanging out in a store
is not my cup of tea. And I especially dislike malls. Used to be that I
liked to go into little gift shops but after my husband pointed out that
these days you can get pretty much anything, anywhere and I realized that he
was right, those gift shops lost their appeal. Perhaps if we are on
vacation or something and have nothing better to do, then I might go in one.
Otherwise I find that I can do a lot better with gift shopping or unusual
items online. If I didn't get my compression hose online, I'd be paying
three times the price and getting stockings that hurt my feet. The only
ones I can find in any stores in the compression I need are the Jobst and
you have to go to some medical supply place to get those. Yes, most
drugstores sell compression hose but only in a higher or lower compression
than what I need.

The shopkeep? You sound like you are shopping in a little store with just
the owner. We don't have too many places like that here any more and those
places aren't of much interest to me. Sure, there is the bead store but
really if I want beads, I can do much better online!

I never buy records or CDs. I did buy some in the 1980's but the appeal
quickly wore off. I do like music. I just like current music so I can
easily get that on the radio.

I'm not big into surprises. I am surrounded by people. Daughter goes to a
dance studio 4 times a week. Plenty of people there. I do often go to the
nearby grocery store mainly to get a little exercise instead of just sitting
in the dance studio. We don't go to people's houses for dinner or have
people over. Don't go to many parties any more.

I don't have to drive. You have to get your exercise sometime, so why not walk/jog and save money on the gym? There are plenty of stores in my general area, so I just wait until the next time I'm at a certain store and then stock up. I have other reasons to take buses or the subway to far-off places, so I take the opportunity to shop then, too. Bottom line: Unless you live in a place where you simply cannot shop anywhere without a car, there's no need to make any special trips - and you can usually avoid those anyway, simply by calling, if the store doesn't have its entire inventory listed online.

We don't have subways here and I'm not on a bus route. Even if I were on a
bus route here, they mainly go downtown and not to any of the stores around
here. There is no store within walking distance to me. I am disabled. I
could never jog and I can't even walk very well.

I make one special trip per week into Woodinville to get gas at Costco, do
some shopping there and go to Target. Once in a while I will go to one of
the other stores there.

When I go to see my parents, I might go to PCC or Whole Foods because they
are near where they live. I used to go to Winco weekly but now it's more
like once every month or two.

I am lucky that there is a grocery store in the same strip mall where my
daughter's dance studio is. So I can go over there and get things while she
is in dance. But... They don't carry everything and it is necessary to go
to other places at times.

In general I hate to just make a trip to go shopping. The planned trip is
different. We are already closer to that area than we are from home so it
makes sense to do it that way. I have always tried to combine stops to
places rather than making a trip just to go shopping.

Oh? You know that I *do* have liquor stores? I only know of a couple now.
They used to be everywhere. But as I said before, liquor is sold
everywhere. Even at the drugstore. I never go into liquor stores and
haven't been in one since the 80's. I have no clue what they sell these
days.

Use another word to describe it. There are many words.

> We don't have too many places like that here any more and those places

Perhaps I should always precede any response to you with "I know you
don't care about anything at all, anywhere or at any time, but€¦"

> Sure, there is the bead store but really if I want beads, I can do much
> better online!

Your "better" is a very limited world though, which was my point.
Other people think differently as I attempted to point out, because
they are different. You have asked repeatedly "Why would I want€¦" or
"Why would anyone want€¦". Once being given the answer you again say
"Why would I/anyone want.". It's like an echo chamber.

Of course you aren't.

You're not surrounded by the people you don't know. Let me guess: You
don't like to meet new people, or you don't like people you don't know,
or your family doesn't like people you don't know.

> We don't go to people's houses for dinner or have people over. Don't

Of course you don't. I was addressing why others do things you don't
do, now or ever.

Jesus H. Christ you sure can swamp a boat, any boat, any time, any
where. Swamped.

I can't, I don't, I won't, there aren't any, it's impossible, it's
expensive, it's hard, I can't, I won't, it isn't.
