![]() At least one Indian grocery I checked at didn't have it. Should I be searching for Mideastern stores instead, or what? One thing I use it for is baked custard - but it's good for sprinkling over fruit salad too. With rose water and maybe a little sugar. Lenona. |

Well I don't know what you mean by "normal" people but online businesses are outselling the brick and mortar places and putting them out of business. Why should I go to a store when I can spend a lot less time and no gas to get it delivered to me? And usually for free? And usually in a way that will benefit me? Like through Swagbucks so that I can get gift cards for Amazon.com? Usually costs less money too. Win win. |

Normal people don't wander around stores looking for things that a lot of stores don't even carry. It makes for crabby people in my experience. Cheri |

Heck, my elderly parents even do a lot of online shopping. My dad needed new pants and shoes. My mom ordered them online and that saved her a lot of time. She did look in stores and couldn't find the shoes anywhere. She could find the pants but one pair here and one pair there. Yes, I do go to Target almost every week but our store is one of the smaller ones. The last few things I bought from them were not even in stock in my store. Sure it takes me a few days to get the order if I order online but... That's better to me than having to drive to some other city. I'll do it if there is an immediate need but I try to plan ahead so there is rarely an immediate need. |

I guess I'm not normal then. Except for groceries, I probably do 99% of my shopping online. If I have to go to a store, I like to be able to go straight to the item(s) I want, pay for them, and get out. One thing I can't stand is when a store moves everything around and I can't find what I'm looking for. |

Ordering online is a PITA and having to buy some requisite number of dollars worth of other goods just to get free shipping is no savings. Fool yourself about all you want. I'm not disabled, I live in a city and internet shopping makes absolutely no sense for me unless I can save a significant amount of money by doing it. I am not going to pay Amazon's rip off prices (before they tack on shipping) and try to fool myself into thinking I've saved money because it ain't true. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

The potential for comparing various brands in the store, getting information from the shopkeep, developing a relationship with the shopkeep and store, finding other wholly unrelated items of interest. And certainly many more. The reason I don't buy records/CD's as much as I once did is the fact that I can root around among the product looking for oddities. Same as with bookstores, though I do still have a couple of good large used bookstores around. > Usually costs less money too. Win win. That's true they can usually do better with price, but I don't mind spending a little extra to ensure the life of a local store and their family. |

You have full service liquor stores there and I guess you presume that all places do. They don't! We used to when the liquor stores were state run. Now anyone can sell it. And Amazon most certainly doesn't have rip off prices. Their prices overall are very good! Yes, you have to check the price and check the shipping. But if straight from them, then you get free shipping with a $25 order. They have recently done something that they call add ons or something like that where countless other companies go through them and they will tack your small item onto your order for free. Yes, it will ship from a different place so you might not get everything all on the same day. I order a *lot* of stuff from Amazon. If I remember to go in through my brother's website, he gets paid for what I order. And I have many gift cards for them through Swagbucks. So often my order is discounted or even free. |

And I especially dislike malls. Used to be that I liked to go into little gift shops but after my husband pointed out that these days you can get pretty much anything, anywhere and I realized that he was right, those gift shops lost their appeal. Perhaps if we are on vacation or something and have nothing better to do, then I might go in one. Otherwise I find that I can do a lot better with gift shopping or unusual items online. If I didn't get my compression hose online, I'd be paying three times the price and getting stockings that hurt my feet. The only ones I can find in any stores in the compression I need are the Jobst and you have to go to some medical supply place to get those. Yes, most drugstores sell compression hose but only in a higher or lower compression than what I need. |

I'm not big into surprises. I am surrounded by people. Daughter goes to a dance studio 4 times a week. Plenty of people there. I do often go to the nearby grocery store mainly to get a little exercise instead of just sitting in the dance studio. We don't go to people's houses for dinner or have people over. Don't go to many parties any more. |

You have to get your exercise sometime, so why not walk/jog and save money on the gym? There are plenty of stores in my general area, so I just wait until the next time I'm at a certain store and then stock up. I have other reasons to take buses or the subway to far-off places, so I take the opportunity to shop then, too. Bottom line: Unless you live in a place where you simply cannot shop anywhere without a car, there's no need to make any special trips - and you can usually avoid those anyway, simply by calling, if the store doesn't have its entire inventory listed online. You know that I *do* have liquor stores? I only know of a couple now. They used to be everywhere. But as I said before, liquor is sold everywhere. Even at the drugstore. I never go into liquor stores and haven't been in one since the 80's. I have no clue what they sell these days. |

There are many words. > We don't have too many places like that here any more and those places > aren't of much interest to me. Perhaps I should always precede any response to you with "I know you don't care about anything at all, anywhere or at any time, but€¦" > Sure, there is the bead store but really if I want beads, I can do much > better online! Your "better" is a very limited world though, which was my point. Other people think differently as I attempted to point out, because they are different. You have asked repeatedly "Why would I want€¦" or "Why would anyone want€¦". Once being given the answer you again say "Why would I/anyone want.". It's like an echo chamber. >> The reason I don't buy records/CD's as much as I once did is the fact >> that I can root around among the product looking for oddities. I can't, I don't, I won't, there aren't any, it's impossible, it's expensive, it's hard, I can't, I won't, it isn't. |
