You understood any of that post? Well, except for the golden suit part.
But what if I don't have a son? Can the neighbor's dog be changed into the
golden suit?

Sheesh! foodbanter just keeps getting better every day!

Never mind that. I'm struggling with getting the rice into something in
between one and two eggs and I can't figure out how to join salt gently.
What is cut and where can I find it in small grain. I can't even get
started!!

I think it's poetic license for pretty much how I do a kasha pilaf.
I'm certain golden suit is golden state (not a typo for NJ), ie.
golden brown.

Seriously? I thought it was more coherent than most of Andy's posts.
Herewith is a cleaned-up version:

EGG-FRIED RICE, MENGASD STYLE

1 to 1 1/2 cups steamed long-grain rice (leftover is better than
freshly-steamed for this recipe)
1 to 2 eggs
Salt to taste
1 tomato, finely diced
1 green pepper, minced
1/4 pound ham, minced
Black pepper to taste
cooking oil, anywhere from 2 tablespoons to 1/4 cup
1 shallot
1 tablespoon finely-minced fresh ginger

1. In a bowl, combine the rice and eggs. Sprinkle with salt and gently mix
together. (You don't want to mix too vigorously or you'll break up the
grains of rice.)

2. Add tomato, green pepper, ham, and black pepper.

3. Place a large shallow pan or wok over medium heat. Add oil to coat the
bottom of the pan and allow to heat for a minute. Pour rice-egg mixture into
pan and stir to cook the egg through: If done correctly, the egg will coat
the grains of rice, forming a "golden suit" for the rice.

4. Remove the rice from the pan, raise the heat to high, and add a bit more
oil. Cook the shallot and ginger until opaque and sizzling. Pour over cooked
rice.

Hope this helps!

Bob

I get ready to kill the entire domain and someone with half a brain
posts from foodbanter. It's easy enough to kill threads, and this one
will be dead in 10 seconds.
