You gets what you pays for. Super-cheap eggs...yum :-\

So, glut is fine with you as long as it results in a saving over the real
price of egg production? You are prepared to accept falsified seasonal
shortages for the purpose of generating greater wealth for the middle-man
in exchange for a product that may not be exportable because of its low
production cost and hence questionable quality? Be my guest :-)

Eggs are a loss leader. Has nothing to do with the quality.

I don't have any seasonal shortage. Plenty of eggs in the store,
and on sale, too.

I don't think I would enjoy that, but thanks. And if someone is
making money along the line, hey ... it's not as if there are egg
farms around the corner from me, someone's being paid to fill a
niche.

Other than for the shells hens are incapable of producing lesser (or higher)
"quality" eggs so long as they produce eggs, regardless of diet... the
nutritional value will be identical by weight. When a bird is ill in a way
that would affect its egg's viability to produce young it simply ceases egg
production, nature's way... same as it's natural that you spout bullshit about
topics of which you know absolutely nothing... Michel Boucher, in every which
way possible you are a big fat zero ("0")... you are by far the most ignorant,
pretentious, and LOUDESTMOUTHED of all the RFC posters... you're a

Did I say egg quality had to do with the nutritional value? Not once did
that concept ever pass from my fingers to the screen. However, there are
lesser grades of eggs, related mostly to cleanliness, size, volume of air
cell and quality of albumen. I refer you to a quick reference on the
Georgia Egg Commission, a government situated within the borders of the
Untied States, just so you don't think I invent this stuff (which obviously
I don't).

Feel free to suggest to yourself quietly that I am lying when I point to
this site.

That's a given. A blind man could see it. It's just gotten too old.

At any rate, the system you describe is used for milk where I live.
It's never on sale, by law. Big whoop. Still some milk is better
than other brands.

I've hand picked eggs from hen houses, so I know a bad one when I see
it. The eggs are fine, here.

nancy (why did they put the henhouse in the middle of the cattle
pasture? I had to beat that damn bull to the fence while carrying
eggs, every day)

Is that intended to be an insult? Must be a local thing with you. I'm
hardly going to find being called a communist insulting.

Muslim, now that's also intended to offend me I guess. I have a lot of
respect for Islam and recognize the contribution it has made to mankind
as a whole, especially in the areas of medicine and astronomy (allowing
curing and travel).

piece-of-shit spineless

Not that you would actually know such things, but I can assure you that
neither are true.

freedom froggie windbag.

Freedom? Freedom froggie? Are you admitting that the concept of liberty
came to you from France? Or are you just confused :-)

Obviously you have chosen to insult me based on a pusillanimous notion
that I am somehow connected to Chirac's refusal to give lip service to
Bush's little wet dream. I can assure you that, although I endorse the
French government's position, I was in no way involved in its
elaboration. You can blame the Republicans in your own country for that.

Speaking of which, on This Hour has 22 Minutes last night, Mary Walsh
suggested the symbol of the Republican Party should be changed from an
elephant to a condom, because for one thing a condom gives you a sense of
security while you're screwing others, and for another thing, it offers
protection to a lot of dickheads.

I await your well-crafted and ebullient response anon.

The appearance (yolk color) and flavor of an egg is dramatically affected by
(the quality of) the feed and living conditions of the hen.
Thus the flavorless junk factory eggs.

Explain why bulk flour costs more than 3X the price of packaged flour.

You didn't write *whole* wheat. But even so, that still doesn't explain the
300% discrepancy. No matter how you slice the cake whole wheat flour
(especially bulk) doesn't cost 3X the price of white wheat flour (especially
packaged). Hmm, just something to post to rfc... you never bought any flour,
was no flour.

why?
I buy white unbleached at 88 cents for 5 lbs. and whole wheet for $2.89 for 5
lbs.
Both packaged.

Around here (Pittsburgh) eggs are usually on
sale at least at some of the store for the
holidays - especially T-day, Xmas,and Easter.

I also noticed that the prices were high. I always
buy large eggs and they're usually around $.90 but
they were over a dollar recently except at the store
that had them on sale.

The cost of maintaining my flock of hens. :-)
Approx. $20.00 per month for all I can eat for me and dad, and I give
eggstras to my sister's family, all _they_ can eat!

I feed 5 people plus with a flock of about 25 hens.

The real reason is the increased demand for high-protein, low-carb foods. Eggs
producers have realized that they can charge more and it won't affect sales.
The same reason is behind the price increase in meats.
