Speaking of Cordon Bleu, I've been enjoying oat cuisine these cold
winter mornings. Jumbo oats with raisins, Manuka honey, yogurt with sliced banana and apple. Nutritious and comforting ... brrrrrrrrrr. -- una cerveza mas por favor ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Wax-up and drop-in of Surfing's Golden Years: <http://www.surfwriter.net> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ |

It almost seems to me like the flavors of the seasonings and the vegetables come through so much more forcefully with no meat in the mix. -- Mr. Joseph Littleshoes Esq. Domine, dirige nos. I wouldn't mind having the recipe if you're so inclined. I like > vegetable soup. > > Of itself it was nothing special, just a big pot of boiling water (not even stock!!!) to which i added 2 pounds of the big white 'broad' beans (?) onions, celery, carrots, crushed garlic and about half of a 69 cent package of 'Mexican' soup spices, specifically iirc it was a spice mix for 'menudo' with mostly oregano but some red pepper flakes and other spices, unfortunately i tore off most of the label and all i have left is the brand name "El Guapo" if interested i will purchase another package and give its full name & ingredients. Several years ago i was feeling too lazy to bother cutting up my soup veggies into a small dice as i had always done before and cut them into a large, inch square dice and was very surprised at how much more flavor they then seemed to give the soup. Being a no meat soup it only took a hour or so from start to finish. Primarily for the beans to cook, which i let cook on their own for about 45 minutes before i put the veggies in. I don't pre soak beans. I put about half the spice mix in with the beans to cook and the other half & some more garlic when i added the veggies. I served the soup in a soup plate with a thin slice of roast beef but the soup is so very good on its own, i thought the roast beef was unnecessary. I have been eating it recently with a big thick slice of whole wheat, buttered bread. I have almost convinced myself to make the meats and soups separately from now on and only combine them just before serving. -- Mr. Joseph Littleshoes Esq. Domine, dirige nos. This morning was two free range eggs sunny side up, and hot Watties Baked Beans on toast...... with a liberal sprinkling of Creole Seasoning to give it that extra 'bite' :-) Is your Manuka UMF rated?? -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia "As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though." Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous |
