Sorry, off topic but I don't want google as my newsgroup server. Used
to be in days gone by, I could just click on a newsgroup and
subscribe. Google has way too much spam and I really don't like the

i had a pork chop and corn that was actually very good for this time of
year. normally in ohio it' august before the good corn is in. the produce
mgr called it "early season" corn. i think he means grown in fla, or
georgia.

Appreciate the advice of the other posters. I registered with
motzerella - almost close enough to mozzarella. That's my food
reference for this post! e.

Steve gets grumpy about stuff. I do too, but pretty much only about
cooking or politics, and I don't start political threads. I finish
them.

I don't understand the problem. Years ago I used a couple of
different stand-alone readers, but when I got this new used machine a
few years back they weren't installed and before I went looking for
something to download, tried google. Works just fine for me. This is
the onlly group I visit with any freqency.

Having trouble finding something to chat with, though.

of them all and, on top of that, it filters out much of the spam. You
will need a newsreader, too. Take a look around

Windows. Dialog (which I use whenever I am unfortunate enough to have
to use a Windows machine), Gravity, Xnews, and Agent are good enough

Thank you. Most servers (perhaps all now) don't offer the option of
Newsgroups anymore - took me a long time to figure that out!

I missed being able to access this cooking ng and didn't realize that
I had more options than Google. e.

Do you mean most ISPs don't offer Usenet any longer? Mine does. I
don't know if Earthlink still does; they used to.

News servers aren't especially hard to come by. news.individual.net is
great and pretty darned inexpensive; it doesn't carry binary groups,
though.

Have some issues with Firefox, but low on the list. This seems like
it might work! Years ago used to use Homer and IRCle. Maybe I can
remember how it works and learn how it has changed before the next
time somone calls an rfc chat. You might read me.

OB Food - braised chicken breast (who brought that in here?) w/ usual
assortment of veg, boiled potatoes, batch of turnip greens. Good but
not interesting. Got some cow liver on the menu tomorrow. Rice with
whatever perversion of avgolemono I come up with .

I can second that. NIN is very reliable and does a good job of spam
control. It is low-cost, although some people find the setup for paying
to be a bother.

That's a little too restrictive in my book. You should at least read
the GNKSA report and see what deficiencies a newsreader has.
