TGIF Breakfast

Two wgwh toast slices lightly coated in non-salted butter and covered with
nuked egg beaters and spread generously/selectively (bite by bite) with pesto
sauce and guacamole, a small tub of strawberry Jell-O and a tall glass of
fruit-flavored Gatorade.

I feel I gotta add some poundage, otherwise I might not make the team this
season!!!

You?

Andy
Defensive lineman

Any questions?

Giusi,

LOL!

You make it sound like a "beta-test" breakfast!

I'd be interested when v1.0 is officially released!

Let us know!

Best,

Andy

It is being published on my blog tomorrow. Today was published the first
zucchine recipe of the year! (And even nicer, but has an anchovy fillet in
it, and kid is allergic, so had to come up with one w/o)

Giusi,

It looks great AND healthy!!!

I know the anchovy wouldn't do my gout affliction any good. I really miss
anchovy!

Andy

Really nice and easy to make-up, the anchovy must be a good idea.
One of my family's staples is "pasticcio di zucchine", where boiled and
mashed zucchini get mixed with bechamel sauce, grated parmigiano reggiano
and a bit of breadcrumbs on top to help the gratin.

I am a total sucker for gratins and sformati, but dieting seriously! The
anchovy in the oil acts as it does in orecchiette ai broccoli, much nicer
with.

My breakfast today, as it is every day, will be 2 tart juicy apples, a
banana, an orange, and whatever mystery fruit catches my eye at the
grocery.

The "start your day right with a hearty breakfast" lie is just that. All my
life, I suffered from the mid morning blues, sleepiness and dullness, even
back in elementary school. Then I read the book "Fit For Life." I don't
agree with all the premises there, but eating nothing but fruit before noon
sure makes sense and sure works for me.

Now, if I give in and eat the kind of decadent breakfast I always used to
eat, I feel like I just swallowed a bowling ball. I do occasionally miss
those kinds of breakfasts, so if I do decide to indulge, I'll just have
breakfast for dinner. Works for me.

elaich,

I'm also, as others are, I'm sure, a big fruit fan!

My favorite fruit is red & green seedless grapes, followed by Fuji apples,
strawberries and on occasion, bananas.

Try Pink Lady apples and Fuji will slip to second place!

sf,

I remember you recommending them a season or so ago. Are they equally
sweet/tart/crunchy as Fuji?

I just tried to ring up my favorite produce market but as usual, they're
not picking up the phone. They've obviously got no thyme for that.

More so... at least for West Coast purposes. I don't know where your
Fujis come from and I don't know where my Pink Ladies come from, but
for my comparison purposes Pink Lady blows Fuji out of the water.

I listened to a podcast last week of Mark Bittman hawking his latest book,
Food Matters. In the book he talks about making a decision (for several
reasons) to not eat animal products before dinner each day. His health
improved, he lost weight and feels better. I've been thinking about giving
it a try but I'm pretty invested in dairy products for breakfast. Maybe
I'll give it a show next week and see how it goes.

I still have to work tonight, so it's still Thursday night. :-P

Brunch today was a 7 oz. ground grilled beef patty with some Bragg's
liquid aminos and a side serving of steamed baby bok choy dressed with a
very small amount of butter, some dill weed, salt free lemon pepper and
sesame seeds.

2 Wylers cubes will be allowed during tonights work shift.

Indian pudding. Not a la mode. (Do you know it isn't that great
without ice cream?)

Coffee, of course.

It's pretty good in a pool of heavy cream, though.

I debated about that. I did use clotted cream, which wasn't very
good. But I have little appetite right now anyway.

As Bob also pointed out, it's good in a pool of heavy cream. :-)

What's your recipe, Jean? There are so many versions.

Ah. This happened to be from a can. Since I am supposed to be
moving in the foreseeable future, I am trying to whittle down some
of my food stocks.

In the past, I have used James Beard's recipe--but I honestly
don't recall whether that is what I settled on.

[Not the least bit LC, BTW, but for once I am just lacking in
appetite....]
