More bad parenting?
Apple Juice Tantrum Causes Plane To Make Emergency Landing http://www.nbc10.com/news/13575254/detail.html A child's tantrum onboard a Delta commuter flight forced a pilot to make an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport. The forced landing was caused by a fight over apple juice. A 4-year-old wanted apple juice and when the stewardess didn't get it quick enough, the child threw a tantrum, NBC 10 reported. The Delta commuter flight landed around 5 p.m. Tuesday. The flight originated in New York and was headed to North Carolina before the incident. Passengers were spending the night in Philadelphia, NBC 10 reported. Authorities said there would be no charges filed in the incident. |

Did the child land the airplane? No. Did the parents force the airplane to land? I doubt it, but the article had few details. I suspect the pilot landed the airplane. > They were delayed, inconvenienced and lost money. The other passengers were inconvenienced, but I fail to see how it required landing the airplane. |

days. Imagine a Greyhound bus at 35000 feet. Nightmare. |

Makes more sense as a screaming baby, as annoying as it is, probably wouldn't cause the pilot to land. But in the case of an adult who becomes abusive, well, it's either knock him out, or get him off the plane. |

message news:ACHgi.12653$XH5.4449@trndny02... ==>Poor Choices & Pathetic Parenting During Flight<== > Different story about the same story: > http://tinyurl.com/2977f2 The really sad thing is the airline will beg that customer to give them another try... As someone that's flown with toddlers numerous times, it always been up to me (or SWMBO) to bring any items we might want them to consume during the flight. It would never have dawned on me to expect something on a 50-minute commuter flight. Like others have voiced, I hope that lout of a parent has so much reverse karma visited upon him he is never heard from again. I'm wondering why it was so difficult for the flight attendent to come up with a can of apple juice from the beverage cart. It's what I usually ask for and they've never had to go hunt some up. This certainly doesn't excuse the father's behavior, of course. The pilot did the right thing since someone who behaves like this, well there's just no telling what they might do. I have to wonder how many people missed other connections because dude pitched a fit over some apple juice. And yes, I always take some snack crackers with me in my carry-on bag. Now that they've relaxed the rules about liquids there was no reason the parents couldn't have packed some juice. Jill |

If it's similar to flights I've taken, the flight attendatns start at the front of the plane and work their way back towards the galley area. This jackass didn't want to wait for them to get to him and that just doesn't work in this particular scenario. > This certainly doesn't excuse the father's behavior, of course. > The pilot > did the right thing since someone who behaves like this, well > there's just > no telling what they might do. If you're going to be heading out with children, it behooves you to carry extra diapers, drinks, Tylenol, and some type of dry goods (animal crackers, Ritz, even saltines) for said child to nosh on. This works well for many adults, too. Cutting line doesn't -- at any age... The Ranger |

Perhaps it was just a matter of waiting patiently for their turn at service....which this father, and possibly child didn't seem to be able to do? > And yes, I always take some snack crackers with me in my carry-on bag. I'd like to hear how embarrassed those parents get (should get!) instead of imagining them whining about how mistreated *they* were! I want to hear an apology for all air passengers who have to be exposed to such idiocy. As if flying weren't already unpleasant enough...? |

I agree that the parent who behaved like an 8 year old should reimburse all expenses. I bet there will be no embarrassment on the part of the parents because people like that always think they are right and more important than everyone else. If anything they will hire Dewey, Cheatum and Howe and sue the airline for the inconvenience it caused to them. |
