This subject did come up in another thread. I threatened Angela and said
she must make at least a dent in her room. I have never ever been on her case to clean it up figuring it was her space. And she really doesn't use the room at all except I guess for storage. However I do expect some simple things to be done. Like the shoes she is not wearing to be put in her closet and in the shoe rack. And no food or drinks in the room. Exception being a bottle or cup of water and only during the time when she is physically cleaning it. Well... It had gotten to the point where she couldn't find two shoes that matched. Because of course she had not put them away. And it had reached what I deemed hoard like proportions. The first two things she brought out of the room were large pieces of cardboard off of some exercise equipment I bought her years ago. Now I am far from a neatnick but things like that just really get to me. In my mind, trash and recycling should go in the appropriate bins and immediately. I hate it when people just toss stuff like that aside to deal with it later. And then they never seem to. Deal with it later that is. She then started with the dresser and said pretty much everything in there seemed to be from the third grade. Now we do go through the room about yearly and clean out all of the too small clothes. But I haven't had to do that much in the past few years because she has pretty much been the same size. I do go through and urge her to get rid of anything she no longer wants. In terms of clothes that is. So... Instead of going to the movies like she wanted to do tomorrow, we are going to Value Village to get rid of a lot of stuff. I just wish she had done it sooner because some of that stuff could have become a possible Christmas present. I suppose it's still possible. I don't know how fast that stuff makes it to the shelf. She does have some pajama pants that I got her last year. I suspect she will get rid of them. They look a little like scrubs. I got them for her to wear to school on pajama days. She doesn't normally wear pajamas but nightgowns and those were not allowed. She will resume the cleaning after dinner which is... Now! Timer is going off. Garlic chicken for her with a rice and vegetable medley. I buy it pre-mixed. Dried veggies but still has to be cooked. Nice because it's less carbs. I will be having the rice with some beans mixed in and a bit of leftover taco meat from yesterday. Perhaps some salsa added if I have an open jar. I might. Seems like I opened one the other day but now I can't remember why. |

i am determined that dh and i will NOT clutter up the house,... i keep the
space clean as to dust/dirt and no food lays around but we are both pretty messy, one of the bright spots in losing the house is we have a clean slate to deal with, Lee "Julie Bove" > wrote in message ... > This subject did come up in another thread. I do have a problem with cans and bottles of beverages that may not have been finished. We only drink diet so nothing that would draw flies. And I do have a problem with wrappers and paper plates. At least the two who have that problem have a specific spot for their hoard piles. But still... I just don't understand it. I have two hands. Every time I leave one room to go to another, I look around and say to myself, "What can I take with me to that room?" Or some other room on the way into there. |

that is the basic difference between you/your kind, and those of us that are
far less neat and orderly, it never occurs to me to do that until i am well out of the room, lol, Lee "Julie Bove" > wrote in message ... > > "Storrmmee" > wrote in message > ... >>i am determined that dh and i will NOT clutter up the house,... i keep the >>space clean as to dust/dirt and no food lays around but we are both pretty >>messy, one of the bright spots in losing the house is we have a clean >>slate to deal with, Lee > > I don't really have much of an issue with food per se, but... When they had to cut Angela's clothes off at the Children's hospital in Oakland, she was sent home in her diaper. And when my dad needed clean clothes when he was in the hospital recently they had nothing for him. Where would they even store such things? They would need a pretty big room for that. Value Village is a charity that I believe in. They are good people. The proceeds from what they sell goes to help the blind. And they sell things for very good prices. My friend used to work for them and she has nothing unkind to say about them. They do come to the house to pick things up. I usually have at least a couple of things for them then. In fact I did just donate a small amount on the 14th of last month. It's just that Angela has some up with 2 big garbage bags full of clothing, mainly nightgowns that are too small for her now. There is a Land's End gown that she never wore at all. That was my fault because it has two buttons on it. I should have known better. She won't wear buttons. But then knowing how I buy things, it was a greatly reduced clearance item and perhaps the buttons weren't highly visible in the picture. I did that this past Spring with a couple of tops that I got for her. Thankfully she and my mom wear the same size now and my mom loved the tops. She wears them frequently in warmer weather. |
