Change your method of cooking and get a WSM $179 through amazon shipped
to your front door. Probably about 1/2 the price of the Weber Silver
Genesis. Your Charbroil Masterflame biting the dust is a blessing in
disguise. If you go with a coal cooker you will notice much better Q'ing.

Tons of information available on the WSM in this group and this site

Smokey Mountain" as search words, WSM too will yeild lots of results,
but may also produce lots of unrelated material.

Not aware of any deals, but it is getting close to fall time. You might
get lucky and find a season close out special.

I have both the Weber Silver Genesis as well as the WSM. They are both
very good for what they are designed for. They're just designed for
different uses.

As for a discount, I think that Home Depot and Lowes handle Weber as
well as Ace Hardware stores. While you may find a discount on the
Genesis, it's rather rare. At least from what I've seen.

Why restrict yourself to a Weber? Many other good brands out there that are
equal or better value.

Restrict? With Weber you get a grill that works great and will last for decades, excellent customer service, a great
warranty and excellent parts availability. They started selling the Genesis back in the '80s. 20 years later, the lid
and castings are still under warranty and the remaining parts are still readily available and quite affordable. I
wouldn't call that a restriction.

In the price range of a Genesis Silver, what would the better values be? I don't doubt there are other good values out
there - I'm curious what they are. How do they compare in terms of primary surface area, warranty, parts availability,
customer service, etc.?

I bought mine preassembled and delivered to my front door[or patio],
with cast iron grates for the usual price from HOME DEPOT. It's hard to
find a really good deal. It is worth a lot to not have to assemble it.
Make sure you get a Silver Genesis B. The A only as two burners, and the
C has a burner for whatever that you never use.
I have ****ed and moaned a lot about the Weber and its incapacity to
sear on this NG. For what gas grills do it is about as good as as grills
can do.
They may be a bit cheaply made, a bit overpriced, but they last, and
their customer service is excellent.

I got a deal on my Silver Genesis at the local Ace where I traded. Not a
lot, but some.

You can save on your purchase by not buying the C model, with the all but
useless side burner. The best use to which mine has been put came from a
tip learned he A chimney full of Lazzari lump and oak chunk starts
really well on that burner, and was ready to dump into the Weber kettle in
very few minutes.

The gasser is very different from the kettle types, and at my house, gets
used probably four times more frequently. I love slow-cooked, but I can
grill with less than 10 minutes planning, and 15 minutes doing. We're
eating in half an hour. Slow cook, I have to start yesterday, and stay up
half the night.

Maybe six to eight tanks of fuel per year...

Yes, Weber makes good grills. But so do many other manufacturers and one
may have features that suit you better. MHP was making grills befor Weber.

IIRC Lowes or HD had them marked down substantially this week. Can't go
wrong that's for sure. My old unit is going strong and I can sear just fine
on it thank you and I can slow cook to perfection. 11yo and still looks good
only flavorizer and grate replacements. Original burners and valves.
