Default Hydrometer != Brix

My Hydrometer reads 1.000 in water.
My Brix meter reads 0.00 in water.

Now, near the end of fermentation (only a few bubbles still rising),
my Hydrometer reads about 1.000 and my Brix meter reads about 10!!!!!

What's going on?

I'm still rather new to wine making and I don't understand what this
means.

Help!
