Was in Walla Walla this past week for 4 days and visited a few
wineries in spare time. First let me say this little town is really growing up well. The wines we had this year were some of the finest I have ever had. More than that the accomodations have improved tremendously since last year. If you want a downtown location, thus walking for dinner I highly suggest http://www.wallawallainns.com/ For Vineyard accomodations I would reccomend http://www.abeja.net/inn/ Next there are three excellent restaurants that were frequented: (in order of favorites) Saffrons: (mediteranean---with seasoning only---more like french- italian) The chef used to work with Todd English. 26 Brix: French Bistro , excellent but not Buchon, but very good!1 Morrison Crawford: Outstanding, pricey. Wineries of distinction: -Abeja -K Vintners -A Maurice -Vapiano -Pepperbridge -Northstar -Leonetti (not open to public) Walla Walla Vintners -Syzyrgy -Buty (and they have a red blend called "The Beast" Among many many other outstanding wineries. Granted its a pain in the _ss to get out there and its a hike...its worth the drive from Seattle or Portland. Enjoy, Dick Neidich |
