Default puer on ebay - can this be right?

Here's a pu gift brick on ebay. Only thing is, didn't the company making
this particular type of pu change its logo from the stylized tea symbol to a
crane? Would that mean that this pu is at least a few years old?

Hi FF,

I suspect you are thinking of Xia Guan, they are the ones who changed
to the Crane logo. Back when the State owned all of the factories the
logos were all very similar. This cake is from CNNP (China National
Native Produce) factory who still uses the old stylized Cha symbol
logo. These cakes are widely available and are not necessarily very
old. In this case they are a charging a steep premium for the fancy
gift box.

Hi Sasha,

I normaly would agree but $19 was just the starting bid. The $19
might be OK if it didnt get bid up.

Their "Buy it now" price is $28 plus $18 for shipping for a total of
$46 and the cake is pretty much a $7 to $10 cake if you found it
unboxed in Chinatown or an Asian market.

Do not factor shipping here - its not "fair". A $10 sheng puer cake in a
good box does worth $18 IMHO.
Shipping is your choice of not going there and picking it up

Sasha,

Shipping is defiantly a factor and it is indeed "fair" to count it
because it is the bottom line price that really matters to me as
consumer. Most people ordering off of ebay are unable to personally
pick up the goods so that really isn't a fair comparison. It is a
common ploy, particularly on ebay and other Internet sites, to offer
something cheap and then charge an outrageous shipping charge to make
their profit. I personally will not do business with vendors who
attempt to profit on shipping. The ONLY way I would pay $18 just for
shipping a single cake is if I am ordering directly from China.

Your $18 is NOT the bottom line price. Besides having to add for
shipping you have to consider that you may not be the only bidder. You
are quoting "opening bid" prices which is not necessarily the sale
price if there are any other bidders. If you want to compare Ebay
vendors to other vendors it is wise to compare the "buy it now" price
because you never know what the final "Auction" price will be. They
are obviously trying to get MORE than their opening bid.

I stand by my opinion that the "Bottom Line" price of $46 for their
"Buy It Now" cake is not a deal by any stretch of the imagination. You
cant really compare the auction price until you are the final bidder.
