Sushi (alt.food.sushi) For talking sushi. (Sashimi, wasabi, miso soup, and other elements of the sushi experience are valid topics.) Sushi is a broad topic; discussions range from preparation to methods of eating to favorite kinds to good restaurants.

Default Jonesing for sushi

Okay, the closest decent sushi bar is over 50 miles away, "Koreana" in
Appleton, Wisconsin. Wisconsin is great, but we sorely lack in the sushi
department. We're fine in the cheese curds and beer department, and you can
even get a really good steak here. But mention raw fish and most people run
the other way, looking for the lutefisk.

So anyway, I'm sitting here jonesing for sushi, can't think of anything
else. I dream of uni. I fantasize about spanish mackerel. Salmon skin hand
roll. Ama ebi, heads beautifully breaded and deep fried so crispy that you
eat the shell and all, and tail meat cool, sweet and succulent.

What comes out of this obsession is a cute little cartoon crab serving up
some beautiful sake -- salmon to the philistines. Not the same as eating it,
but at least I can draw pictures and remember how wonderful it is.
