Ask away - and refrain from reporting back on your disappointments.

Chain #1 does not determine how chain #2 runs its restaurants.

I want to know how you could be so naiive and clueless. The only good excuse
would be that you are very young and haven't experienced much of the world
yet.

I like Dr. Pepper and I like Mr. Pibb too, not Coke (to sweet and
syrupy). I order soft drinks maybe twice a year though. Not fond of
them in general.

Naiive and clueless, 'bout what?! I simply reported my experience at
CF to help inform others what they don't serve so other people will
know what to expect when they visit there. Come on, it's not THAT bad!

Then why not choose a side dish that IS on the menu?

No, it isn't, it's a medium level chain restaurant that does reasonably
well for what they do. I do however find their "menu" full of
advertising irritating.

Try ordering pecan pie. That's not on their meny either.

If you are having trouble getting a meny from the waitress perhaps you
should look it up online:

http://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/menu.htm

If the waitress does give you a menu, perhaps you should have a lok at it
and make your selection from one of the items listed. I am absolutely
positive that you would get a more sympathetic response in this group if
you had been ordering items from the menu and they were always out of
those things, but you keep harping about not being able to get items in a
franchise that are not on their menu.

Because some restaurants, from past experience, are willing to be
accomodating whenever they can. Simple ingredients can go a long way.

So does Dr. Pepper - that's where all the soft drinks evolved from and
Dr. Pepper was one of the first.

It's not a place I go out of my way to go to like say Fogo de Chao
(yum), but it's certainly in the running if I'm looking for a place to
eat and it's nearby.

I ordered something that was "indirectly" on the menu. The ingredients
are right there in the kitchen! It's about accomodation. Cheaper
restaurants do it! In fact, I've had salad dressing prepared for me
when the restaurant didn't actually serve it. Now that's service!

Dr. Pepper was originally sold as medicine.

Reminds me of an old acquaintance who used to join me and a group of friends
to go to one of the seaside lobster rolls shacks in Long Island. She knew
the kind of place we were going to, but as soon as she opened the menu,
she'd complain that they didn't serve pasta or steak. These places serve
lobster rolls, fried clams, fish, and sometimes fried chicken, as a
concession to non-seafood eaters. They don't serve pasta or steak.

When you go into a restaurant and bitch and moan to get something special, do
you ever wonder how much snot and saliva goes into your meal? It is something
you really should worry about.

This isn't Joe's Crab Shack, we're talkin' about. This is Cheesecale
Factory that serves pasta and has all the ingredients to make
fettucine alfredo. It is odd that they wouldn't serve pasta though.

Everyone knows it is pointless to even ask at those places. It's a given
that you don't get it the way you want it. A corporate committee has
decided how it will be done in every single joint they operate. Heck at
many of them they don't even cook the food there, they just reheat it and
plate it. So it is exactly the same in Seattle as it is in Miami as it is
in Vancouver as it is in Anchorage. That's the corporate model and for me
it sucks. I don't care for those places except for lunch if nothing better
is around. If I want a double cheeseburger with swiss and asiago, I won't
get it at a CF so I go where I can get it that way.

I'm reminded of one of Eddie Murphy's standup shows in which he comments on
what happens to idiots who go to Chinese restaurants and make fun of the
waiters' accents or mannerisms. Eddie squints, puts his hand near his
crotch, shakes, and says "We make special won ton soup for him...." :-)

How dense are you? Don't you read what you are taught? They probably don't
make the sauce from scratch. It probably comes in plastic bags, portion
controlled. They are not going to open one, use half, and put it away with
the hope that someone else will also order a small portion. I suppose they
could do that and charge you full price, but then you'd be here bitching
about what they charged you.

You seem to really need to buy a clue. Cheescake factory is a big box
industrial restaurant where every single allowable move is
pre-calculated. If you want the sort of service you describe just go to
a real restaurant.

So you're suggesting that CF is fast food. Wow! Maybe I'll ask next

Fast food would be McDonald's/Burger King. In between fast food and fancy
is a huge segment represented by Cheesecake Factory, Appleby's, Ruby
Tuesday, TGI Friday, etc.

You don't get around much, it seems.

How do you know the ingredients are in the kitchen? I'd be willing to bet
their pasta dishes come frozen and pre-portioned.

Take a lesson: notice I just ordered something that *was* on the
menu.
