I started brined dill pickles (recipe pg 44, BBB) Aug 16. Two days
later I added 1 c salt per 5 lb of cucumbers as per instructions pg 43 BBB. On Aug 23 I added 1/4 c salt per 5 lb cucumbers as per instructions pg 43. Today, my brine is clear, smells & tastes good, and has a few bubbles on top. More bubbles come to the top if I tap the side of the container. I don't have any scum! Where is my scum? Did I do something wrong or is this normal? |
