How To Grill A Hot Dog With 2 Nails And 1 Electric Cord. Do not try
this at home unless you are a licensed electrician or insane. Nevertheless, great idea: http://www.jumpingpixels.com/hotdog.html |

It was called the Presto Hot Dogger, and it could cook 6 hot dogs at once. There are always some available on eBay if you do a search for "Presto Hot Dogger". There's 10 for sale right now, ranging in price from $3.99 to $19.99. My parents had one for years, but didn't use it once. Before that my father was told by coworkers how to do it using 2 nails and an electric cord, just like in that video. He worked for an electric utility at the time, so I guess that was to be expected. -- ( #wff_ng_7# at #verizon# period #net# ) |

In 10th grade physics class, the teacher took a strand of low gauge wire and touched it across a 12-volt battery's +/- contacts and it instantly severed. We learned plenty that day! Wearing the proper rubber gloves, he didn't fry, dammit! ;-) Andy |

LOL All I could think of reading this was "Porky's" and the gym teacher. Found out something new the other day....."Lassie" in Porky's was played by Kim Cattrall. It was her first 'big' roll.....now she's better known for Sex in the City.....even then she was in it for the tumble. |

It predates the Consumer Products Safety Commission, for example. I'm not sure what safety features it had to help prevent what happened in that video. Did it have a timer that forced it to turn off? I can imagine what might happen if you turned it on, took a phone call, started gabbing and forgot all about it. But that's true for an awful lot of cooking. -- ( #wff_ng_7# at #verizon# period #net# ) |

But that's true for an awful lot of cooking. I remember using one back in 1964 and you had to unplug the unit when it audibly snapped indicating the dogs were done. They tasted fine at the time but my standards for hot dogs has gone up. I remember there being a caution about leaving hot dogs in and the unit plugged in. jim |

Maybe it had some thermal sensor that turned it off, but if left plugged in, the sensor would cool and it would turn itself back on. I have a coffee percolator that has that kind of issue. When first plugged in, the brew heater comes on and when finished the brew heater goes off and the keep warm heater goes on. Left plugged in long enough, it will cool to the point where the brew heater will kick back in. Not good, particularly if you didn't remove the basket and perk tube. It starts perking all over again. -- ( #wff_ng_7# at #verizon# period #net# ) |

Thanks, I did not buy any fireworks for the 4th, but I do have some
cheap freezer burnt hot dogs, so the will be good for my fest. I want to add a recipe for exploding guacamole, although it might be a little late in timing for independence day: 4 mashed avacodos dash lemon juice 1 large tomato diced, a few T of minced onion 1/4 c sugar Mix above. Put in sealed tupperware in fridge and forget that it's there. Don't open the container. Let it sit a good month or so. One day when you come home from work you may notice the inside of fridge has green gloppy stuff all over. That would mean the guacomole hs fermented to it's festive state and the lid blew, or it you were really lucky, you were home and heard the fireworks in time to witness the fiesta. At this point it might make a good liquor as well (I don't know, I did not have the guts to try it) jillstardust stand for something or fall for anything Hans wrote: > How To Grill A Hot Dog With 2 Nails And 1 Electric Cord.
