When rushed and hungry, (generally at work when it's busy), what types
of foods can or do you eat right out of the can, cold? Canned cream soups Spinach Cut green beans Asparagus spears Baby corns Black Olives Green Olives Any other canned veggie depending on my mood. Canned beans are out tho'. Those have GOT to be warmed up! -- Om. "My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son-of-a-bitch." -Jack Nicholson |

Those have GOT to be warmed up! I can't eat canned creamed soup cold, sorry. That's one reason I really like those Campbell's Soup at Hand and other quick microwaveable soup containers. 3 minutes... about the time it takes to make a phone call at the office. Voila... sip or spoon up lunch. Jill |

Those have GOT to be warmed up! Not my favorite, but it works. I was in college, and met a young lady. I went to her house. She lived with her parents. I'm invited to dinner. Sounds good to me. We're in the kitchen, and mom is making dinner. She has this huge baking sheet, and it has a ton of chicken pieces on it. We never ate chicken when I was a kid. Dad doesn't like it. I don't like it. Oh well. A few minutes later, the power goes out. It is an electric stove, so no chicken that night. What a relief! Mom opens up a canned ham and some baked beans. It was great. -- Dan Abel Petaluma, California, USA |

I'll eat the black olives as a snack... the rest, blech! > Canned beans are out tho'. Those have GOT to be warmed up! Canned cold beans are fine if drained and tossed with a salad dressing. I like canned beets. I like canned creamed corn. And naturally any kind of canned fish is a treat... tiny sardines, kipper snacks, smoked oysters, etc... nice with some saltines but not really necessary. And cold Spam .... excellent when you have a mess of those Chinese take-out condiments... hot mustard and duck sauce go well with Hormel fillet mignon. |

Those have GOT to be warmed up! This thread is flat-out repellent! Gaa!!! As Patches mentioned earlier, commercially canned foods aren't a happenin' thing [for me]. I will, however, make an exception for any type of canned fish; I agree with Sheldon on that point. And as I child, I used to adore cold canned corned beef on saltines with hot mustard; I seriously doubt I'd like it these days. Spitz -- "Home, James, and don't spare the horses!" |

Those have GOT to be warmed up! Cold canned soup & spinach??? SHUDDER!! Green & Yellow beans, cut, whole or French styled? Bring 'em on. Canned Asparagus? Is there any way to eat those but cold? I'd rather have fresh, but since that's only rarely possible around here, I keep a few cans of spears for when I get a hankering. Then it's the entire can, cold. Baby corns? stir fries only Black olives? I'll eat black olives till they come out my ears (I'm built funny). Side note: When I go to Subway I watch the 2 or 3 people ahead of me to see what they're ordering on their subs then I tell the person making mine "Heavy on the black olives. Those last 3 people didn't take any, put their share on my sandwich, please." Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My favorite counter guy used to add the mustard first then use it to hold the load of olives he'd put on. Ultimately, I paid for those olives with the extra tip he got. Chick peas, just rinsed then sprinkled with a bit of Italian dressing. Yum! Canned tomatoes with lots of freshly cracked pepper. Gabby |

They were sorta styrofoam with a metal edge on top. The metal edge is covered by a plastic cover with vent holes. BTW, this crap was terrible.
