If you're between computers, away from home or looking for dropped/deleted posts, google groups is fine - but it's not good enough to use as an every day news reader. |

My newsreader (MacSOUP) shows missing posts in any existing thread, so I would have noticed. Besides, I use two other newsservers on a regular basis and still notice no missing posts. My guess is, the problem is likely to be the sorry, broken excuse for a newsreader you insists on using. Try to check posts marked as read and chances are you'll find the "missing" ones. ObFood: Scampi alla Buzara, a recipe from _The Food of Venice_ by Luigi Veronelli. BTW, this recipe and method is as much Dalmatian as it is Venetian in origin. Victor Scampi alla Buzara Shrimp Buzara-Style In this dish from Venice's Trattoria Corte Sconta, shrimp are cooked using the "buzara" method, a method used to cook all kinds of seafood in Venice and the surrounding area. Try this with calamari or mussels, too. 3 cloves garlic, crushed 1 3/4 lb (800 g) medium shrimp (prawns), cleaned and deveined 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 1 cup (250 ml) dry white wine Salt and freshly ground white pepper to taste 3/4 cup (180 ml) tomato purée 1 tablespoon bread crumbs 1/2 golden delicious, or other sweet apple, peeled and grated 1 tablespoon flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped In a large skillet, cook the garlic and shrimp in the oil. When they turn pink, add the wine. Allow the wine to evaporate. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add the tomato purée, the bread crumbs, and the grated apple. Stir and cook until the sauce has thickened, approximately 5 minutes. Discard garlic. Arrange the shrimp on a serving plate. Pour the sauce over the shrimp. Sprinkle on parsley and serve immediately. Serves 4. |

I haven't been looking for it, but have not noticed anything unusual at all lately - at least the threads I look at seem complete and coherent (well . . . . .) -- The Doc says my brain waves closely match those of a crazed ferret. At least now I have an excuse. |

However, I do have news.individual.net and also news.verizon.net, both using Outlook Express. Oddly, I pick up missing posts from the Verizon source. OB food: I appreciate your Scampi alla Buzara recipe. Dora |

That seems a bit strange - they said they were charging to keep the service excellent with all the traffic they now had to deal with... I'm currently using reedfreenews - a google for that will turn up the subscription page if you're interested - not had any problem really, just the odd one or two posts I don't seem to see.
